This may be a dumb question.
But using ImgBurn, the kicker.img (from both my desktop and drive) is unsupported.
What should I do?

Hello all;
I've been reading (most) of this post, with one ques:
The OP has a link to his UBUSB in the initial post... will it give me is latest ver.?
I've followed on over to his webpage (EZPcFix) and, unless my recognition is poor, I don't see USUSB there.
... Just needed to confirm the location of the lastest ver. - perhaps already part of BartsPE dwnld.?
Thanks in advance.

The link in the original post is (and will always be) the latest. You might want to inventory the vers in case you ever have the need to back pedal.
The ver included in UBCD4Win dl is not.
@pcuser... just trying to save you a few key presses :)

Thank You... I assumed so, but you know the probable outcome of assuming....!

Thanks jmenola, my fingers appreciate it. ;)
I don't know if I've ever mentioned this before but all prior releases are archived and are still available for download. For example, v1.0.46 is at http://www.ezpcfix.n...BUSB-1.0.46.exe and v1.0.48 is at http://www.ezpcfix.n...BUSB-1.0.48.exe

How much faster is booting UBCD4WIN from a usb flash drive supposed to be? It takes about 4 minutes to boot UBCD4WIN from my flash drive. This is almost the same amount of time it takes to boot from the cd. My flash drive isn't that slow (18mb reads in HDTune) so I don't understand what's going on. I formatted the drive Fat32b, would another type of format work better?

Thought I'd give some feedback from my experiences with UBUSB
First of all, everyone just says "click go" even though there are several selectable options within the application and haven't really seen any documentation. Most of it is easy enough to figure out, though there are some that I have questions about before I reformat my USB stick several times:
The "ISO Images" section: does this add a line into the boot loader so I can load my own ISOs? If not, what does it do?
The Boot Loader section: It gives the option of grub4dos or syslinux. From my experience, grub4dos look is quite different in appearance than the normal ubcd4win boot menu, and using the default ubcd configuration (no customizing of the plugins) it leaves out the offline password recovery tool as a bootable option. I checked the plugin section and this is supposed to be there by default so I'm not sure why it's getting left out.
when picking the syslinux option the menu looks a lot more pleasant, but when you try to actually use any of the choices from the boot menu you get "this is not a bootable device error message"
I like the tool overall but could use a bit of info on its interworkings.

The "PE-Boot (Memory Mapped)" boot option is usually the fastest USB boot option and is usually quite a bit faster than CD/DVD booting.

UBUSB doesn't have a Fat32b option.

Using the default settings will usually result in a bootable USB drive with the most compatible features and the fastest boot options. There is no official documentation as of right now but everything is described in this thread (I know it's ALOT to read though). I bought http://www.ubusb.com and http://www.ultimatebootusb.com quite awhile ago with all good intentions of making a website for UBUSB with documentation, tutorials, etc... but it's still on my "to do" list. I wish I could do this as a full time job but evidently being a freeware author doesn't get the bills paid and sadly, the local utility company refuses to accept an autographed cd of my freeware as payment, even if I agree to write "thanks for a good time" on it. Oh well, go figure...

Yes, select your own existing BartPE/UBCD4Win ISO images to be added to the boot menu if you're using Grub4dos and they will be booted from RAM.

Both Syslinux and Grub4dos have many options that make them extremely flexible and customizable, UBUSB uses very basic/generic settings.

It's not there because I couldn't figure out how to make it work with Grub4dos.

Thanks for the report, I'll look into it. What version of UBUSB are you using?

I'm using the 1.0.51 and thanks for the info on the iso image section i'll give that a go. Too bad about the offline password tool i rather like it, though I looked at the menu.lst but couldn't come up with a way to make it work. There's a tool I like a lot for making bootable linux usb drives called the universal USB installer, I know it works with the original UBCD but haven't tried it with ubcd4dos

To include offline password recovery update grub4dos http://nufans.net/grub4dos/ and compare http://www.ubcd4win.com/...indpost&p=72987
