      Hmmm, didn't notice you posted that earlier? Do some speed tests on it for us when you have some time! I might have to buy back one of these from my boss!!

        I ordered mine Sunday night as well but it's not gonna be here till at least tomorrow or Friday.. Mine is being shipped from Rutherford, NJ... Did you add next day shipping or are you just real close?

        I ordered a OCZ Rally2 8GB as well the next day, after the rebate on that it's only $11.99 and I recall a review showing that as a very fast drive...

        Will post results of tests when I get them... In the reviews on Newegg someone said the rebate must be received within 12 days, but it's actually 21 days..

          I got the drives in today.. I ran the H2testw test on the 2 old drives I have and the 2 I got today..

          Memorex 512MB - tested with FAT and FAT32 formats..

          FAT - Write = 1.49 MB/S - Verify = 4.96 MB/S - Stopped almost 30 seconds before verify ran...
          FAT32 - Write = 1.41 MB/S - Verify = 4.96 MB/S

          Kingston Data Traveler Reader - 2GB - tested with FAT and FAT32 - This drive has a built in card reader that supports SDHC and MMC cards..

          FAT - Write = 5.96 MB/S - Verify = 8.40 MB/S
          FAT32 Write = 5.84 MB/S - Verify = 8.40 MB/S

          I haven't done any real testing with the reader portion of this drive, but when I get a better SD card for my camera I'll test it with that..

          Corsair Flash Voyager 16GB - Only FAT32 tested...

          Write = 5.88 MB/S
          Verify = 26.2 MB/S

          OCZ Rally2 8GB - Only FAT32 tested...

          Write = 12 MB/S
          Verify = 23.2 MB/S

            The OCZ Rally2 8GB looks like a good candidate for when writing your UltimateBootDualLayerDVD to USB. :yes:

              Thanks for the detailed information. Very interesting results. I had a feeling the 16GB drive wouldn't be "super" fast but it looks as if it sustains pretty good speeds.

              I curious though, how much did you pay for the OCZ? It's results are almost as good as my HyperX so I'm wondering how they compare in price.

                NewEgg has it HERE for $14.99 (after $12.00 MIR).

                  Yeah, I forgot to check NewEgg. Made my post and just went back to work. Then of course my brain finally started working and I looked it up at NewEgg.
                  For $30 less, it is well worth the price for the performance you get. If you really need or think you need that extra performance then get the HyperX. However I think the OCZ is a steal with the MIR!

                    The HyperX drive now has a PROMO code for $5! So it's 39.99 shipped.
                    Don't know how long the promo code will be good and you will need to sign up for their newsletter before attempting to use it.

                      The offer on the OCZ is back down to $11.99 after the MIR.. I just put my MIR stuff in an envelope for the OCZ and Corsair and will be sending it off today... I have to say, I like the Corsair setup better with the pre-registered rebate. You get a code to check on the rebate and I know they can read the name and other info. instead of trying to read my printing..

                        That rebate process is pretty cool, I've seen a few like that.

                          FINALLY received the Corsair drives. The pictures do not do it justice because in person it actually looks a little better. For some reason I was expecting it to be bigger, but it's pretty much standard size. My HyperX is slightly bigger though.
                          One thing I noticed and really didn't like was the rubber cap. After squishing the cap a few times and thinking that was cheap I pretty much decided I didn't like the squishy rubber on the drive. That's just me though. I think it actually looks ok.

                          My performance results are a little better.

                            Corsair 16GB drives have a MIR again. $39 shipped with a $20 MIR.

                              Time to test out some more drives!

                              The boss and I were discussing making a super USB drive that contains UBCD4Win, XP Home install, XP Pro install, and a few other goodies. That way we aren't always digging around for CD's.....we have it all on a single drive.

                              I have been very busy for several months now and haven't had much free time to test and build new things. But this will get some of my free time. We have been working on Ultimate Boot DVD on and off for the past year so the work Tom and I do with this drive for work will lay some more great groundwork for UBDVD. We have a lot of stuff already figured out it's just a matter of getting it all together and packaging it up. Anyway, got slightly off topic.

                              Some ideas for drives would be good. I like Patriot so I was checking out some Patriot 8GB drives that seem like they are fast. NewEgg is out of stock so I'm including a Tiger Direct link for the drive. Also, the price comes out a little cheaper anyways because there is a MIR.
                              http://www.tigerdire...e...&CatId=2633

                              This looks like it is speedy? I really couldn't find many benchmarks for it though. The price is right also. I think I may be able to get $4 shipping on it (from my Rep) so after the MIR we pay about $14 for it. Better than the $16 (without shipping) price that NewEgg had.

                              I won't be placing my order until Monday so if anyone has any suggestions or ideas, please let me know. I might be able to get the boss to buy a couple of different brands and that would allow more benchmarking. Also I want to note that I am VERY happy with my HyperX (love it!) but the boss doesn't want to spend $45 on each drive since we will be buying 4-8 of them.

                                You're welcome to use the UXP project as base for UBDVD. It's a mix of a LiveXP project and the regular XP install. This project is already working for well over a year in the same way as you mention. It also allows to automate the use of different software like *restricted project name, please email Ben for support*, driverpacks, WPI and WUD.

                                This package also includes some popular open source programs that get installed with windows like open office, firefox and such through WPI with respective permissions to be distributed and built legally.

                                --------

                                It's a one click process, just select the source to the XP folder and see the results.
