Thanks Nuno, I'll check into that when I have the time to.

UBDVD is still pretty young (even though we've been talking about it and working on it lightly for the past year) so everything isn't in stone yet. We'll be checking into many things to see what is the best, easiest, etc., way to get some things done. Any other thoughts or suggestions on it would be appreciated. Shoot me a PM with thoughts or suggestions if you wish.

Ok, received one of the Patriot Xporter 8GB drives today.
A little surprised with the results. Keep in mind I paid $24 w/ shipping for it before a $10 MIR.....so I think it's a pretty damn good deal.

      HDTune

      28.3 Max ""
      27.8 Avg ""
      .9 Access time
      22.7 Burst rate
      12.0% CPU usage

      H2TestW

      28.8 Verify

Pretty good numbers even compared to my (expensive) HyperX drive. I would surely prefer to buy this drive for $14 rather than $45 for the HyperX when the numbers are so close!! Although the CPU usage does bother me a little?

Great deal, hit up TigerDirect and get one for yourself!!!!

I got my Corsair rebate a few weeks ago but still waiting on the OCZ rebate.. Anyone get the OCZ drive and get the rebate already? So far I'm very happy with the performance of the OCZ drive, which I use for my PortableApps and Tech Apps. The Corsair is pretty nice too, I'm using that to back up my work system and other stuff. The Corsair drive is noticeably slower on writing compared to the OCZ but hard to tell the difference between the 2 when Reading.

On a side note, I got an Antec power supply in August with a rebate as well and still haven't received that either. Turns out the company that was handling their rebates has filed for Chapter 11 and a lot of people have been screwed due to that. I haven't received my check and those that did are having them bounce when depositing them so I guess I'm better off not getting it yet.. I've done a few searches on rebate problems and a lot of people are having issues with companies screwing them over, some saying that they never received the paperwork, postmarked too late when mailed weeks ahead of time, and other stuff. I'm somewhat happy with the turn around with the Corsair rebate and wouldn't mind doing that again with them, but I'm really getting turned off of the whole idea overall.

I bought a Cooler Master power supply over a year ago and it took them 6 to 8 months to get my rebate to me.

To be honest, I think consumer's should find out who the worst offenders are with screwing people over on the rebates and get a class action lawsuit against them, just to see if that would bring the other companies that keep doing this into line.

I can't remember if we ordered that one also? I'll have to check in an hour when I get to work.

I personally have had little problems with rebates until now. It was for the Azio micro BlueTooth adapter I posted about back in October. I ordered one and so did the boss. He received his rebate check 2 weeks ago and I haven't received mine yet. I finally emailed them yesterday and hope for a response.

The boss though has had problems in the past but it really hasn't happened often. My boss and I are a strange breed. We kind of enjoy it when someone tries to screw us over because that give us a chance to call them and complain. He takes it a step further though because he accepts calls from telemarketers just to mess with with them!! He doesn't mind wasting 5-10 minutes because he has fun with them. He has a great oriental accent that he uses when he call MS activation too, some of those calls are classic.
The rebates though usually work out. All you have to do is call them and/or email them and hope for a response. Once though it took almost 20 calls (seriously) and several months to get the rebate from one company. It probably wasn't worth it after all those calls but it's the principle!! Some of those rebate companies count on you to forget about it and/or you not wanting to waste your time just over $10.

          Good luck with your rebate!!

            Failed to mention earlier.

The Patriot 8GB drives have a new $10 rebate!! You have until the 14th for this one. I highly recommend that you get one, these drives are nice and fast. If you already got one last month, you can get another because this is a new rebate!! I've ordered 2 more.

Me, being a fan of http://www.tommabe.com/ and http://www.jimflorentine.com/, I would love to hear more telemarketing stuff especially if tech related.

Obviously, there would have to be consent on both ends, so that kinda spoils the fun. Oh, well.

New benchmarks for the Patriot drive.

The previous ones we received were either 150x or 180x. The ones we received today are 200x.
SO, I of course had to run benchmarks on the new drives.

                  H2TestW:
                  14.9 Write
                  29.0 Read

Slightly better results, so it is definitely a good deal from Tiger. You only have 3 days left to order one before the rebate expires!!!
