Does EMPTYREGDB.DAT exist on the USB drive that fails to work?

EMPTYREGDB.DAT is required when using writable media such as a USB drive.

No, the "left side" is the working, XP generated side of the equation...So, THANKS, now we're making more progress on why it doesn't work, but not yet (I am still out on the road) for WHY it wasn't generated (in addition to the other anomolies)..

So, At this point, It may be time to move the discussion to another post, since this may be more of an issue of how the directory is generated (that causes issues on USB) rather than the UBUSB tool...

      Hello
      I speak english very badly

Not so bad that you didn't understand the issue correctly! Yes, for some reasons we still need to dig deeper into, the process works on XP, but not on Vista/Win7

I worked on the the code for UBUSB everyday for a very long time before I even thought about making a public beta release and have spent many, many hours on it since then. I might make future versions private from now on.

Why do I even release any of my work to the public???
If you're afraid of taking any chances then the chances are great that you will never learn anything

Multiboot Plugins - UBUSB (Ultimate Boot USB) - EzPcFix - RootKitty - Network Configuration Utility - UnIsoFS - A Small Linux Distro - SELogger - HashME - WSock - My Paypal

            Because you enjoy the abuse??
Sometimes I ask myself the same question! Why do we spend thousands of hours to help people and then not be appreciated? Also then people will not accept our simple answers to why something doesn't work!
I think we are being selfish! Quit your job and lose the ability to feed your family, at least we will make all these people happy then?? 90's flash back------NOT

Sorry if you are taking this as any kind of insult or "slam" against your work. I LIKE the tool a lot. I think it does a LOT of good things.

This thread wasn't so much about your tool as to why the process isn't working when run on Vista (or Win7). I think from the above, we are getting closer - and I hope to have some more time later this month to work on it. I think from the above feedback, that it is something in the BartPE process that is causing the issues, and not specifically your UBUSB process... I.E. I'm seeing diffs way before I even try to run your tool, or convert it to USB.

So keep up the good work, and as Monty Python says "always look on the bright side of life".
