    Hi
I have messed about all this evening trying to make a boot disc without success.

Apart from a warning that "using an OEM xp disc can be trouble" everything was fine (the win xp home disc is from microsoft,ie not under licence from a pc manufacturer).

I changed the bios settings to boot from cd first but it doesn`t seem to be picked up at all and goes straight into windows,so I tried again with a blank cd and it paused at the boot from cd window.

I also noticed when I checked the files on the cd that Driveimage xml was not present,I use this for my back up and was hoping, should I need to format C I could use ubcd4 windows to do this then use Driveimage xml to restore my C drive.

I am using win xp home sp3.

    Can anyone help please?

If the only file in the disk is the ISO file... you built the disk wrong and did not burn the ISO as an image like you should have. You must burn the ISO as an image with your burning software or use the recommended ImgBurn to burn it with.
Plan A is always more effective when the device you are working on understands that Plan B involves either a large hammer or screwdriver....

I did say I had checked the files on the cd, I couldn`t do that if I had burnt it wrongly. I used nero and burnt it slowly rather than at full speed.

I have got it working, I think I must have had a bad burn or something. I burned the same image again on to a new disk and it ran first time.

I could`nt find the folder for Driveimage xml when browsing the disk but it had a desktop icon when booted into ubcd4 win, so that is both problems sorted.

Now I hope the disk is like a nuclear bomb!! Never needed.

            Thank you for your help
