I'm thinking about going to the one in KC on Nov 4th, anyone else going to that one?
If you're afraid of taking any chances then the chances are great that you will never learn anything

I've registered for the one in Cleveland. I wonder if the wife and I could go to Cleveland and Detroit and end up with 4 copies??!! It's not worth that much to me, I'll just go to Cleveland. Really I don't even want the free Pro (I think that is what they are giving away), I'd rather have Ultimate because that's what I have for Vista right now on my 2 systems.

Looks like STL for me (and a coworker) on Nov 9th. Could goto "Chitown", but that is to me what Detroit is to "The Boss" (aka SteelTrepid).

I have been to almost all local"big" cities for something. Detroit, Cleveland, and Columbus. I only drove around Pittsburgh once and drove through Cincinnati a few times.
This past February I was in Detroit with free tickets to a Red Wings game, I really wish I would have wore my Penguins jersey back then!! If I do that this year, I'll probably get my ass kicked!
I think I've traveled to Cleveland more so I'm more comfortable going there. Detroit wasn't too bad but that's because downtown seemed safe?? The bar I went to was pretty fun too!
Hopefully they provide some good information and maybe the vendor that are there give away some free stuff?

Crap, since they will be NFR's I won't be able to sell them and honestly I do not want Pro, I want Ultimate. Since I have a TechNet account I can test drive Ultimate when I wish to. I'm already using Home Premium on my box in the bedroom we use as our TV.
So an interesting idea popped into my head. Maybe I could just give away the 2 licenses I get?
So maybe I could use this to my advantage? See which beta testers kiss my ass the best and send them the free copies of Win7 Pro!!

Has anyone attended one of these yet?? I just realized that Monday is my day. Amy and I will be going so it should be fun, she'll be bored out of her mind!! I just want the extra free copy!
If anyone has been to one, let us know how it was.

I really wanted to attend the one in KC on Nov 4th but it was already full. STL is the next closest but it's a little too far from me.

Are you still registered though Tom?? Other people may cancel and then you could still possibly attend. I'm pretty sure that's what happened with Amy. It was full but I still signed her up and she received the confirmation today.

Well it really wasn't too bad or too good? It met my expectations, but I had hoped for just a little more. Amy was COMPLETELY bored and the fact that it was about 60 degrees in there did not help!
I found it quite interesting that they used a theater for the event? A few other people there had said they've had several events there in the past.
One extra little bonus was the fact that they gave away Ultimate and I was under the impression they were giving away Professional? I don't know if they will give that away at the other scheduled events. One bad thing though, it's 32bit?? I chimed into a conversation when a few guys were complaining about that and said the keys are not "bit" dependent. Meaning the key will work with 32bit and 64bit media, or at least that is the way it is with Vista and I doubt they changed that. One of the guys said that did not work for him when they gave away Vista Ultimate. I expressed that I figured it was dependent on the type of media, meaning it won't work with OEM copies but will probably work with Volume License media? If and when I get the chance to confirm this or find information about this, I'll post on my blog.
The really interesting information though came with some of the information about Server 08 R2. The deployment tools and many other things tied into Win7 and 08 R2 was amazing to me. Then again I do not deal with the Server OS, I only build servers.
I'd love to hear from other who have attended their local event. I plan to post a little more about this on my blog later tonight. I just got home about 1/2 hr ago and I have A LOT of business to take care of.
