A promise to speed up a slow computer at the following link:
Registry error resolution may help some computers, but it is no panacea.
I used a registry optimizer from UBCD4WIN on one computer, and then found the CD-ROM drive would not work. I don't know if it worked before I optimized because I used USB. I solved the problem with the upper/lower filter fix. The computer, a 5-year-old Toshiba laptop, is still slow. There is not much to be done for this particular computer except to add memory or buy a new computer. I can't convince the owner (a relative) that they would be pleased with a new dual-core laptop. Further, they would be safer with Vista or Win7 rather than XP.
