HELP!!!
I have disassembled my Sony PS2.. after having it in a box for quite some time.
The primary controller port got jacked up several years ago... so I threw it in a box.
I would love to be able to play the many games I have for this system.... boots fine except there is no response from the primary controller.
The primary and secondary controller ports are identical, but games won't play without the primary port.
Disassembly reveals a bent connector in the primary controller connection.
The connector is bent/pushed backwards or inwards... so is shorter than normal and does not make contact with the male connector from the controller.
primary controller port
X 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
Secondary controller port
0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
----------
X indicates a female connector that is bent backwards (or inwards from face of console) and results in no connection
0 indicates female connector at PS2 in normal position
-----------------------------------
the primary and secondary control ports are housed together with a metal backing and an electronic connection at the motherboard
... there seems to be no access
It may be possible to pull the connector out with tweezers, but that would add stress to the solder connection
Q: How does one fix the faulty connector?
