Dell E510 running XP. Created the boot CD on a Dell inspiron laptop from an XP professional CD, not the OEM CD for the system.
The HD on the E510 was corrupted by a restore from a seagate replica drive that apparently had a corrupted drive. When the system tries to normally boot I get a PBR 2 error.
The UBC boot drive works fine on the laptop.

Disable ALL of the multiboot plugins and rebuild.
If you're afraid of taking any chances then the chances are great that you will never learn anything

Great idea - didn't work! Ended up with 2 errors on the build after disabling all multi-boots
Would you like to share that exact error information with us or do you just want to leave it as "didn't work, got errors"???

Hmmm - my post this morning apparently did not take.
Was able to build good UBC boot CD without "multi-boot" items. When the E510 tried to boot from the CD drive, the drive light came on and the screen went blank. No messages were displayed.
Same CD booted on my dell laptop without a problem.
Any more ideas?

Are you trying to repair this computer with UBCD4Win or just testing to see if it will boot on it? I booted UBCD4Win on a E310 today then searched the forum and found that it can be booted on a E510 so it IS possible. The more information you can provide the better we can help you.

I gave in and took the computer to a local repair shop. I was trying to use ubc4win to save the data on the hard drive so that I could restore/rebuild the operating system.
Thank you all for your help - it is a useful tool and I will use it in the future!

733BW.... quit wasting forum space with your useless quotes of what others have suggested or said... it serves no purpose if you are not replying to them.
