I am doing this build thing despite my lack of computer know-how. I'm using a XP CD from my Gateway computer to build this. My other computer was a build and I can't find the CD for it. I'm getting a warning:

Building from an OEM version can mean trouble

Any ideas what to do? I can't find the answer on the site so far.

    Thanks in advance!

That warning is fine for the most part. I get it every time I build as I also have an OEM version. If the build goes through and completes and you get an ISO you should be fine.

I actually have gotten 11 errors on top of the 1 warning. It's not copying over some of the files from the XPCD folder I made. I tried to copy them over manually and I'm trying another build as I type this. Hopefully it goes through okay this time. Thanks for the quick reply. I've been working on this all day and hoping I can fix what ails my other computer soon.

Did you copy the entire CD contents to the XPCD folder? Before you did the copy did you make sure to set the hidden files and folders and system files to visible?

Good job on posting the exact warning message but the exact error messages are what we need.

Okay, I did copy the entire CD as far as I know and yes I did make them visible following the directions on the build. When it said error copying .... file to .... folder I went back and looked for the files and they were all there. You'll have to forgive my lack of know-how in this but could you tell me where I go to view the error readings so I can copy them onto here? I've probably bitten off more than I can chew in this project. Thanks in advance.

You could try searching the CD and your C: drive for the missing files:

                    ATAPI.SY_
                    HALAACPI.DL_
                    HALACPI.DL_
                    PCIIDEX.SY_
                    SCSIPORT.SY_
                    USBCCGP.SY_
                    USBEHCI.SY_
                    USBHUB.SY_
                    USBOHCI.SY_
                    USBPORT.SY_
                    USBUHCI.SY_

The problem with doing a copy from the C: drive (System folder) is that some or all of those files could have been updated causing other further issues. If the files are in the XPCD folder they may be corrupted either on the CD or in the copy process. I would try to copy the files over individually from the CD and try again and if that doesn't work maybe see if you can get them from another source. If Gateway has edited/changed any of the files I would see about getting another CD that is not a OEM unless it's an actual M$ OEM CD.

Well that didn't work. I'm done trying. This is obviously out of my reach. Guess I'll have to dole out the money to take it in and get it fixed. Thanks anyways.
