As I encountered a message in Windows 7s event logging saying that the anti-virus scanner AntiVir was switched off (AntiVir itself switched on a little bit later) I thought it could be possible that a virus switched off my scanner, modified it and could no more detected. To be sure if this had happened or not I decided to use UBCD4Win to scan my pc.
The scanning process works fine the first 2 minutes. Then the message is displayed: The report file could not be written. There is not enough disk space available. The application will be closed.
What can I do to manage this problem? UBCD4Win is on a DVD, this means space enough for any report file. And on the hard disk there is much more free space.
I used XP Professional SP2 and the last version (I think 3.50) of UBCD4Win.

Hi rifo
Most Anti Virus Software programs on the ubcd4win disk are copied into the ramdrive B: before starting
You need to increase the size of the ramdisk as the log file produced by AntiVir fills up the ramdrive
by default max size set 96MB which is too small for modern PC's
in OEM1\Joshuas-preshell\preshell.ini
ProfileRamDriveSizeMax1=96
change to
ProfileRamDriveSizeMax1=384 (or 512)
There is a plugin to do this change for you at
http://www.ubcd4win.com/...x1&fromsearch=1
Alternatively copy files to hard disk C: or D: in a folder \AntiVir and run from there
BUT do not do this if you need to recover deleted files on hard disk or hard disk is suspected of being corrupted or damaged

Hi mbarnes,
I changed the size to 512, and this worked fine. 4 viruses were found in temporary directories. This means no problem, I think.
Thank you for your help.
