Hi, I done a search on here and didnt see any post suggesting an idea that I have, so I hope this isnt a double post and i missed it somewhere, if it is I appologize in advance, ok so here is my question/theory/idea...
UBCD4WIN can be booted from a USB drive right? well is it possible, for someone to make the UBCD4WIN builder for like say an adroid phone/tablet? this way, one could have the USB boot files stored on their phone, and use the builder to update the virus definitions, and make any necessary changes to the build for specific situations.
so basically, there would be an app on the android phone, where you can update the virus definitions, spyware definitions etc... (like in the windows builder) but it gets wrote to the USB boot files (that have been copied on the phone from the app) this would eliminate the need for burning a cd, or getting on a computer, updating definitions, and then making the usb drive again. I belive this would be relatively easy to do, I just lack the proper programing knowledge to be able to do so. im more on the hardware side of things.

Idea For A Possible New Way Of Updating/Using Ubcd4Win

An Android phone provides access to the drive on it from the Android operating system itself to the PC... this wouldn't allow it to become a bootable device on a PC simply because it can be accessed by a PC with the proper drivers in Windows. Said another way... it isn't a stand alone USB device like a flash or hard drive is, the Android OS controls it.
I'm not sure why you think that any type of programming is relatively easy to do... even the batch driven scripts that UBCD4Win uses for updating requires a bit of knowledge to implement and these are much easier than actual programming itself is that would be required in different operating system that is unrelated to Windows itself.

usb cable to computer...pull down menu, click on charge icon, select usb mode making it opperate and act like a usb drive

I fail to see why what I said is not possible. I made this post for two reasons, to see what the feasibility would be, and second, see if anyone could actually build such an app.
I may lack in knowledge on the programing side, but that doesnt mean I am completely illiterate when it comes to such topics. when i refered to programming i was not refering to the batch files for ubcd. all im saying is, an app on the android (or even the IOS) that does nothing more than connect the phone to the same serves UBCD4WIN uses to download the updates, and save them in the proper location.
of course what i am saying and suggesting implies the computer is capable of booting from a usb device.
now with all of that said, I hope that I clarified some stuff and made my idea/question/issue clearer, Can anyone tell me either way if this is possible? if not, can anyone tell me why it would not be possible. (I am not talking about running anything cross platform) when the SD card is mounted as a disk drive, it shows up in FAT32 Format, which is readable by computers for boot purposes.

You lack some basic understanding on how computers boot and when a usb device is actually available to them. An Android device won't make the USB drive available early enough to boot another system from it and even if it did, you still wouldn't get access to make the drive Windows bootable since the Android OS won't allow another OS to have the control it needs to do that ( make it bootable ).
You are also acting as if writing an app for any operating system ( not just Android ) is as simple as writing a script ( batch file in the case of Windows ) and it is more complex than that. Before you make such statements, you need to learn to program first, at this point you have jumped to a lot of incorrect conclusions because of your lack of real experience in these matters.
There are many things with your suggestion that make them if not impossible but impractical. First, flash drives ( aka thumb drive ) are cheap and most people can afford them... not everyone is going to have an Android phone so why limit the work you spend on something that many of the people using your product won't be able to use. Second, why use a different OS in the first place, just script an update routine that works on Windows, since you know others have Windows already and updates the USB device ( flash or hard drive ).
I've been fixing computers since 1978, working on and repairing DOS, Windows, Novell, Unix and Linux systems since 1989, dabbled with several programming languages, involved directly with the UBCD4Win project since 2005 and even have had an couple Android phones since Motorola released the original Droid... So think what you will, I do have a little bit of an understanding on the things I say and comment on....

uh huh....http://blog.integrii.net/?p=173 <---that isnt talking about booting a computer up from an android phone using UBCD4WIN? and you said you are one of the main people that created the project? I guess this must have came along before you joined the project or after you left it huh?

1, I already stated that I didnt have a whole lot of programing experince, hence the reason I posted here. I "THOUGHT" i would be able to find someone that could either tell me my idea could work, or tell me no it wouldnt and why, instead of playing high and mighty talking down to me. 2, I didnt say it was super easy, but just because you may not be able to write an app for android or for any other os in any particular language doesnt mean writing an app cant be done. there are lots of apps, and programs out there for android, windows, mac, freebsd, linux, etc... if it were truly as difficult as you are implying, there would be no computers, or personal electronic devices because there would be no software for them.

UBCD4WIN is a diagnostic/utility/repair disc is it not? so it would be safe to assume one would want to use this when their windows machine is not bootable or has some other issue? I take my phone with me everywhere. I do not take usb thumb drives with me or would be more likely to forget that than my phone. hence where my theory and idea came into play. I have seen other PC repair tools on the android OS. I really like UBCD4WIN though and thought that I could have an idea for making an improvement. so I am not talking about re-inventing the wheel, more of a convience idea

again with the attitude... I only asked some questions, clarified my statment, and you come back again with the attitude. I dont care if you were the sole creator of UBCD4WIN, NO one knows Everything about everything. and just because you had a couple of android phones doesnt make you a know it all guru of the android OS.
im sorry is it a crime, or too much to ask to be able to ask a question and get an answer? I ask questions to better understand. usually its been my experince that people that are threatened by someone asking questions are those that do not truly know what they are talking about. not saying that is the case with you necessarily, but just that there is no need for your attitude and talking down to people.

UBCD - is a DOS based boot CD with utils to repair / recover computers
UBCD4Win - is a Windows based boot CD to also repair / recover computers and also can include UBCD with it...
I was not "giving you attitude"... I was telling you information you do not yet know enough about to make valid comments on...
I didn't say I created the project ( though I have developed and updated many aspects of it )... do not put words in my mouth or twist the meanings of what I posted.
It isn't a crime to ask a question or post a suggestion... it is silly though to question the responses of someone that knows much more about it that you when you don't get an answer that you want to hear... Still, if you wish to waste your time in the manner you are talking about... have fun
Since all you want to do is argue with what you've been told... this thread is now closed.
