Can anyone point me to information about putting UBCD4WIN on an external USB hard drive? The UBUSB tool threw an error after it was done with the Format step. I tried direct disk copying (dd.exe) a UBCD4WIN flash drive to the USB hard drive. But then, even when I explicitly chose the external USB hard drive as the boot device, it still booted off the laptop's internal hard drive.

Any pointers or links would be good to have. I took some time to google, but didn't find anything (just kept getting articles on flash drives).

Paritiotion, set active and format the USB hard disk.
Copy UBCD4Win files to USB hard disk.
      rename \I386 to \minint
      copy \minint\setupldr.bin \ntldr
      copy \minint\setupldr.bin \bootmgr
      copy \minint\ntdetect.com \ntdetect.com

Thanks for the pointers. I'll try again soon. But, don't I need to do something to make the disk boot to what I copied to it?
