Beta testers and Mod.'s have contacted me because of our new "263" members online record we set today. This is not a true number, at all. It is also not a hacker trying to gain access to my Admin controls or someone trying to take down my server, I don't think.
I have noticed this behavior several times, just usually not in this great of number. My paranoia was up right after 911cd forum was first hacked so I was trying to keep an eye on as many things I could. I've printed and written down many IP addresses.
I witnessed today's fluke. I scanned through the 7 pages of IP addresses that I can see since I am the Admin for the board. They were all very similar and the same one that has been guilty of past user "spikes." The domain is owned by yahoo (I do not capitalize their name because they SUCK!), actually it's a company they bought a few years ago. I cannot off the top of my head remember all the details but I will check into all of this again. I will contact the company and yahoo about this on Monday. I think their "search bot" could cause damage. Usually they just sit idle also?? Other search engine bots actually check out the text in posts, etc. Hopefully they will be able to figure out why their "bots" are doing this and why they are not actually being listed as "bots" like they should be when they are in the forum. If they cannot fix it, then I will just ban the IP address from the forum. Hopefully people do not use yahoo search much, because they won't get any links to our forum if I have to ban their "bots" IP address.
Just wanted to ease everyone's minds and let everyone know that I am trying to watch for strange behavior whenever I have time to notice it.
