For a Norton PreScan Plugin, I need a WinRAR Plugin that puts unrar.exe and winrar in the Programs\WinRar folder.

Does anyone have one or know where to download one from?

Thank you.

:o

I'm a little confused, but I'll try and read between the lines...

Why would you neeed WinRAR as it applies to Norton Prescan? I do have a full working WinRAR plugin, but it is certainly not necessary to have Norton Prescan functioning (I have that as well).

My best guess is, what you ACTUALLY want, is a batch file which will decompress symcdefsi32.exe, copy the virus definitions to their appropriate folder, and clean up after itself, thereby keeping your Norton Prescan plugin always up-to-date.

The other option I can think of is, you might be wanting a way to extract the update file to the RAMDrive so the updated NAV can be run from there... I personally run mine from the CD, so extraction to the RAMDrive for me is pointless... my batch file includes a few simple commands that, from withinXP, takes symcdefsi32.exe, extracts ONLY the virus definitions, copies them to the NAV plugin folder AND the BartPE build folder, creates, and then burns the ISO all in one step.

So explain a little better what it is that you need and I probably have it for you.

Yes, I have Paraglider's Norton Prescan plugin, which I wanted to add to UBCD4Win since I have Norton Anti-Virus. The plugin needs WinRAR to unpack the definitions.

I put the short message up last night after having some trouble finding a WinRAR plugin on the internet. Today, I am going to help someone with their computer, which is very messed up with spyware and viruses. I wanted to have as many tools as possible with me for the clean-up.

Late last night, I was able to make a WinRAR plugin using Plugin Builder and got the Norton Prescan working.

Thank you for the response, perhaps we can trade notes on our plugins.

If your WinRAR plugin has full context-menu (right-click capabilities) then we probably have the same plugin...

@ DigiWiz

I am trying to integrate Norton Prescan (Paraglider's) to my UBCD4win. When I run it from UBCD4win I get an error message stating "it cannot find D:\programs\WinRar\winrar.exe". I created a folder called WinRar in the plugin folder and added winrar.exe and unrar.exe to it but I still get the same error message. I guess I need a plugin for WinRar. I followed the instructions and copied ccScanS.dll, ecmldr32.DLL, Prescan.exe files to the Files\Support\Prescan directory. I downloaded the file symcdefsi32.exe file and copied it to the directory Files\Virusdef.
I am kind of stuck. If I need to create a plugin for Winrar would you please teach me how to do it. And if not what do I need to do? I am not asking for things to be done for me I would just like some direction on how to.
By the way, I do have a licensed Norton AV 2004 CD if there's a different way of doing this.
Thank you, I would greatly appreciate you help.
P.S. I know one can make a plugin w/ PEBuilder but when I try It asks for a .CAB file which my NAV2004 CD does not have.
Thanks again!

Here is a WinRAR plugin. It should work in UBCD4Win. I've modifed the .xml to place it in Compression along with Izarc.

Thanks DigiWiz.
I downloaded Plugin Builder yesterday or the day before and I tried building my own plugin but it did not work because I did not know how to use it even after reading instructions. So finally after I posted the previous post (and before you posted the WinRAR plugin), I tried Plugin Builder again and this time it worked. I am not sure what I did different other than click on "add/Programs". I still got to learn how to use it.
I haven't yet used your WinRAR plugin. But I will try it as soon as I post this message.
Again thank you very much for all your help. I really appreciate it! :)

@DigiWiz
Just wanted to let you know I tried your WinRAR plugin and it worked (what else could be expected, right? LOL).
I just wanted to thank you not just for this but also for all the other times you've helped with other issues and plugins.
Thank you, I really appreciate your help!
