I made the ubd4w CD following Ben’s directions, with no problem. Used 1.6 drivers download. Burned CD with Nero.

On booting from the CD, all goes well until finally I get the windows desktop showing the green hillside, ver 2.55, etc. The boot seems to complete, but there is no START button, and no taskbar. The mouse pointer is active, i.e., moves about; no response to clicking anywhere on the desktop, including along the lower display margin; or to any of the usual windows keyboard command keys.

System: Pentium D 830 on ASUS P5WD2 Premium MB, 2 Hitachi SATA2 HDD in RAID 1 array (I checked, your RAID drivers match mine ok), 1 GB RAM, XFX GeForce 7800GT Video Card. Windows XP Pro SP2 os disk (SP2 already on the disk). This system runs under WXP Pro SP2 just fine.

I had already made a BARTPE CD for practice, which ran with no problems except that I could never get the NIC drivers to load in spite of trying every suggestion on the Forum. I found in making this CD that I had to copy my own ntoskrnl.exe and hal.dll files into BARTPE\i386\system32\ to get the BartPE CD to boot, so I did the same with ubcd4w: Requires Build w/ F7, copy files, make iso w/ F5, then burn.

Does anyone have a suggestion? :(
