When I use VmWare to boot my .iso i get computer info on my background. When i boot the cd up in real life on a real pc i get a single line of green characters across the whole screen. It is the same character over and over again. It looks like binary code. So far i have tested only a few different dell computers.

Is this a bug in myinfo. If it is related to the intel integrated video card then why did bginfo work fine on all the older UBCD4Win versions?

I have seen this issue on several systems myself. It usually happens to me when I'm working on a P3 or a socket 370 Celeron processor based system.

I do not think that it has anything to do with the video, but really processor ID. I haven't noticed it recently on any of the P4 Dell's I've worked on over the past few weeks. When I get back to work tomorrow I will check it out on a few to see if it is a video or processor issue. I have just always assumed it wasn't able to figure out the processor so all information went out of whack.

BGInfo is closer to a "commercial" type product. While it is freeware, they have a horrible redistribution policy. They will not let us include it or any their other freeware tools in our project. I have contacted them several times and they have no licenses that would apply to us and there is no way I would pay them just to include that program in our project.

MyInfo was programmed by pcuser because of the BGInfo problem. I don't know if he plans to work on it any more as there are other more important tools he is working on for the project.

Coolmon is also included in the project but is disabled by default. That plugin requires you to setup what information you would like displayed and because it reads real time information can be resource hungry. If setup properly you probably wouldn't have any issues with it.

This is a bug with myinfo that I also see occasionally and I would like to fix it but I can't replicate the problem with any of the hardware that I have at home to test with which makes it very difficult if not impossible to troubleshoot.

If you find that it is a bug in the program I would be willing to help code for the project. I am not a programming expert, but I know enough to write simple programs in C (not C++), VB, VB.Net

I will test my cd on a few other computers and let you know. So fax it has had the issue on a Dell Optiplex GX110 and an HP Vectra VL400. The problem does not happen on Virtual Computers.

I've seen it on Dells mostly too.

Man, I'm trying to rewire my home network........and you guys are making me want to go into work to test this!! I think one thing to check is video. Since it's being reported on Dells, I know most of them use the Intel onboard graphics. Some of those boards have AGP slots, so adding a AGP video card would be a good test.

Perhaps someone having this issue can give you temp access to a "Remote Desktop" session???

I have had to do this before & it might solve your problem of not having the hardware, providing that someone is willing to trust you with there system (remotely) for a little while.

The computer I tested on did not have an AGP slot or else i would throw one in and test it. I will try some other computers and let you guys know!

and also this happens on all old computers with graphic-cards from ati with only 4 or 8MB video-ram.

I just tested the disk on a Dell Optiplex 260 and it worked fine, so it is only an issue with certain computers.
