Topics I've Started

  1. Bartpe Usb 2.0 Support

    Posted 1 Jan 2010

I created a working BartPE rescue disc earlier this year but have some questions.

What was the first version of BartPE to include USB 2.0 support?

I want to ensure I used a build version that came with USB 2.0 support. I've read these two arguements:

    BartPE requires a third-party USB 2.0 driver plug-in.

Or, BartPE comes with USB 2.0 support, and all I need to do is insert my rescue disc, shut down my computer, insert my USB 2.0 flash drive, power up my computer, boot from the rescue disc, and my computer will automatically detect my USB 2.0 flash drive.

But how is it possible for a computer in BartPE's environment to detect a USB 2.0 flash drive after installing a new, blank hard disk? Doesn't a computer require USB drivers to be installed, or does BartPE come with USB 2.0 drivers?
  2. Ubcd4Windows Help Needed.

    Posted 3 Aug 2009

UBCD4Windows is the "one size fits all" BartPE rescue disc. I'm new and have some questions:

Can I burn the ISO onto a DVD+RW?
Does it include Windows' Disk Management (a GUI version)?
Does it include PnP USB drive support?

I'd like to use AutoStreamer to slipstream Windows XP Service Pack 2 onto my UBCD4Windows disc, but I'm not sure how.

My HP-Compaq PC came preinstalled with an OEM version of Windows XP Home Service Pack 1 (not sure if it's "a"). I don't have a Windows XP installation CD, just a Service Pack 2 CD from Microsoft and an I386 folder in the WINDOWS directory.

    Do I slipstream SP2.cab at C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\ i386, or C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386?
