Posts I've Made
Posted 30 Nov 2009One bad thing though, it's 32bit?? I chimed into a conversation when a few guys were complaining about that and said the keys are not "bit" dependent. Meaning the key will work with 32bit and 64bit media, or at least that is the way it is with Vista and I doubt they changed that. One of the guys said that did not work for him when they gave away Vista Ultimate. I expressed that I figured it was dependent on the type of media, meaning it won't work with OEM copies but will probably work with Volume License media? If and when I get the chance to confirm this or find information about this, I'll post on my blog.
I was surprised today when I received a 64bit version disk in the mail today after having received the 32bit a week or two ago. You get one, too?

Posted 27 Nov 2009Virut is a file infector malware. What this means is that it infects the executable files on your system which include your Windows system files. When cleaning this one, the files that can not be healed must be replaced manually.
So hopefully you kept the reports of the infected files, using that info, you would go through and replace the files that were infected with an uninfected backup copy. In most cases you must also make certain that the file you are replacing is also the same version that was installed before the infection happened.
Agreed. Sadly with Virut sometimes the best idea is to format and reinstall. I don't usually say that...
Posted 27 Nov 2009Way overdue, but it seems the plugin(s) worked. Thank you!
Posted 27 Nov 2009Who is the genies put in UBCD4 main boot menu Darik's Boot And Nuke v2.0 ~ Submenu
without explain what this and without warning message?
The word genie derives from Latin genius, which meant a sort of tutelary or guardian spirit thought to be assigned to each person at their birth. So I guess you could be considered close, although one should take connotation into consideration.
All joking aside, I do have to agree with all of the above comments. Use this as a learning experience and don't use your main machine to test (or at least try it out in a VM).
