Before posting, I thought I would do a search of the forums with regard to McAfee Stinger plugin updating. I see that McAfee has updated the program. Now I cannot do an update prior to building UBCD4Windows.

I am guessing the link to update is broken as result and was wondering if anyone had a workaround in the same way the Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool needed a year or so ago.

Happy New Year to everyone and especially to the development crew for all their hard work! Your work has helped me out on quite a few occasions! Thanks again!

Computer repair is not an automated process as many seem to think. The UBCD4Win is a bootable system that contains many useful utilities that may be helpful in fixing a corrupted system... but that doesn't mean you don't need to know what you need to do in order to perform a repair.

Sorry rdsok but that hasn't answered my question. Of course I understand that computer repair is not an automated process, so in order for me to know what to do to get started do I simply insert the dvd in the drive and press start to activate the boot up process or is there something else that I need to know. I don't understand why you are making it so difficult for me to understand the UBCD4Win process.

First thing you need to make sure of is that your system can boot from a CD/DVD drive or even a USB device. On power up, you'll need to gointo the BIOS settings and look for boot sequence information. Not knowing what type of machine you have, I can't tell you what key you need to press to get into the BIOS - for some DEL works or F2 or F9 or F10. Refer to your system's documentation on how to access the BIOS.

Assuming you have correctly made a bootable disk, insert the disk in the CD/DVD drive as applicable, and let the system boot. Depending on what you are trying to do, look under START -> Programs -> for the area you want to work with.
