  1. Smithfraud Fixer

    Posted 17 Nov 2009

Nod32 picks up the smithfraud removal tool in UBCD4Win 3.55 as a virus, I know this tool get's flagged by some AV's. What's weird is the newest version of the smithfraud removal tool doesn't get flagged by NOD32 the one in this package does. Yes the MD5 hash of my downloaded ubcd4win matches the one posted on the download page. Probably a false positive, but start using SHA1 or better. MD5 is pretty much useless and has been for years, it can be hacked.
  2. Mscomctl.ocx

    Posted 17 Nov 2009

I know mscomctl.ocx is a MS file, I know I didn't have it in my c:/windows/system32 folder before I ran the UBCD4Win 3.55 builder. The UBCD4win builder put it there, creation date is the same exact time and day I ran the builder. Why does it do this?
  3. Booting from UBCD4Windows on a machine with SP3 installed

    Posted 16 May 2008

Hi, just a quick question, i'm pretty sure it's not a problem but just making sure.

I have a UBCD4Windows CD that I built off a XP SP2 disc. I needed to boot from that CD on one of my machines that is running SP3. My question is..nothing gets written to my host machine's disk right? The UBCD4Windows CD doesn't copy SP2 files over my SP3 files on my host machine correct? I know probably a silly question because I don't think it does but just making sure.

    Thanks
