How do I setup custom Desktop icons such as Ghost32.exe, Network Tools, etc.

How do I place my ghost32.exe in startup so it opens when the desktop opens?
(When I highlight Ghost plugin and click configure, it says there is nothing to configure, most of my plugins say that.)

Also, how can I set the boot up options to Bypass the menu and default to Launch Ultimate boot?

How can I set the startup shell to be automatic and not prompt me?

I am just learning about UBCD4Win....So your responses may lead to more questions.

Thanks!

I have not had anything to do with UBCD as I use standard Bart PE. (UBCD is made with Bart PE so everything is similar.)
Normally, when it comes to using the desktop like a standard windows PC you will find once your Bart PE/UBCD has been built it will still look at
'%systemdrive%/Documents and Setting/All Users/Desktop' for the desktop icons. When i have needed this in the past I have done it myself manually by making a new plugin that copies a directory full of the shortcuts I want to the correct '%systemdrive%/Documents and Setting/All Users/Desktop' directory either on startup of the CD/DVD (in case the %systemdrive% is your ramdrive) or at build time.

To make programs auto-start is another issue. The best way (for full compatibility with BartPE/UBCD/Any Shell, you need to make a 'AUTORUN' file in your Ghost plugin dir and then make it autorun. This is too hard to discuss here, but a search on this forum or a Bart PE forum would help you.
The other way to make program startup is to use shortcuts again - this time in the dir: '%systemdrive%/Documents and Setting/All Users/Start Menu/Programs/Startup'

As for skipping the menu I am not sure about this, it depends on what default shell UBCD uses to load and how it is setup. It may not be able to do this. I have seen various 'Mulit-Shell' launches out there that should have a default load option (in and INF) in the Multi-Shells plugin directory to config this.

Good Luck - These Forums are your best friend as most questions have already been asked before- have a look around...

Desktop icon support was added with "Rocketdock".
There are many threads about customising the icons and probbly cover the exact programs you are asking about.

There are many ways to do this.
The most effecient is to follow the examples at the bottom of \plugin\!Critical\UserSettings\User-Settings.inf which use the RunOnceExec program group that is part of windows itself and is currently being initiated by Geoshell.

Unless the plugin has a config script/program associated with the program, then you will not see anything when this button is pressed.

This is the bcdw menu setup.
To remove the menu completely, simply delete the \plugin\multiboot-003 folder completely, including all sub folders and it will be gone and save some room on your ISO/CD. You may want to move this folder somewhere outside the \plugin folder in case you want to use it again latter.

Open "\UBCD4WIN\oem1\Joshuas-PreShell\PreShell.ini"
Set ProfileRunHidden=true

@rustiferch
Great Answers, general, but very true in general since ubcd4win uses the oem version of pebuilder.
Sonce it sounds like you have not actually built our version before, can you please give it a shot and post your opinion?
I think you may be quite suprised with the level of functionality included in a fully configured download.

Unrelated to the questions asked but still...

Note.... to avoid confusion on what you are refering too..

UBCD - is a DOS based boot CD with utils to repair / recover computers

UBCD4Win - is a Windows based boot CD to also repair / recover computers and also can include UBCD with it...

So when talking about UBCD4Win please don't call it UBCD since that is another project and can end up with you getting the wrong answers/suggestions if someone mistakes what you are refering too
