i am also a big fan of the boot cd and i think it's amazing. today i wanted to update to the new version but i am not having any luck. i've tried several times and spent a half day at it but absolutely NO luck. i keep getting a few warnings about the file system and one error. i read in another post the warnings aren't important so i won't list them, but this is the error i keep getting (it happens when the program tries to burn the iso to dvd):

"starburn_cdvdburnergrabber_trackatoncefromfile() failed, exception 10 status 24569568 text "cstarburn_cdvdburnergrabber_trackatoncefromfile(): NWA not valid'

it's my guess the burn process didn't finish. it stopped pretty quick after it started. i would say less than 5 minutes. i used the starburn cd/dvd burner provided in the software (& i don't have anything else i can use). whatever came in ver 3.1 sure worked fine tho cause i never had any problems with that.

i use xp home and my only copy is the OEM version that came with my machine. and my dvd is the same one i used to make 3.1 (it's rewritable).

i did try booting from the dvd, i mean i had to try.....and i set my computer to boot from the cd/dvd drive. but the dvd is definitely not working. the computer just bypasses it completely. version 3.1 always worked great!

Use IMGBurn to burn the ISO to CD.

Or use the cdrecord choice instead of starburn. Cdrecord has always worked for me.

hey thanks. i decided i would try your suggestion first since i was curious (& i prefer to do everything in one program) but it didn't work. got a couple more errors and they seemed to indicate cdrecord does not support dvds, which is what i used.

also! i want to mention this.......my installer says it's version 3.12, but the program itself says 3.11. i double checked this a couple times and i am not mistaken. is that what everyone else has?

PE Builder is at version 3.1.10a (the program used to build the project)
the UBCD4win project is at version 3.12

so what you see is correct.

update on my other thing: IMGBurn worked! and i am testing the boot cd right now and writing this while using it. so thanks pcuser. and thanks for IMGBurn! nice program to have. one thing....it seems my original dvd got damaged somehow while using 3.12, because IMGBurn would not "see" it as erased/empty (even after repeated erasings). i was forced to use a new dvd to get it to work.
