Hi,

I have installed the application (UBCD4Win) in a machine (windows Vista) where I have Admin rights. But each time I am trying to invoke the app, it is showing me the message "Sorry, this program requires Administrator's privileges".

I am trying to make the boot CD for one of my XP machines. But right now, I can't even open/invoke the application. Please HELP!

In Vista IT does require admin privilages... right click on the file and select "Run as administrator" from the menu... if you are logged in as a regular user you will be required to supply the administrator password

I guess I need to add that you need to right click and "run as Administrator" though??

Yes, if you're building UBCD4Win while booted into Vista. Right-Click -> Run As... Administrator

I wish I had used run-as .... booted as power user when I attempted to build the project on a win2k system at work.
Lesson learned. Mission critical client.... don't mess with it..... but damn, everyone else has been able to surf questionable websites and install whatever craplets they want. Why can't I install productive software?

I forgot to use "run-as" while testing in win2k at work one time, forgetting that I was only a power user. The system got trashed during extraction of the project.

I had to reinstall the o/s as the boss read his newspaper.

Not griping!!! surrender.gif, just saying be aware of your access level.

Can you reproduce the problem?
dirkgently42
Win2k was current at sp4+ at time of test install.
No, I can't reproduce.... that was at least a year ago, if not two years so was using a previous verision of the project.
I think the version I had at the time was 3.03??? Dunno, but definetly not the current version.

I don't think I would like to try again with the latest ubcd4win.
...but maybe I might....????? hmmm? these win2k boxes have been scheduled for upgrade to XP.

Da boss has trashed two pc's twice and had them replaced. Why can't I experiment and see what happens?
We'll see.... devil.gif
