Hi
UBCD 3.12
Gave it access to an XP SP2 install CD - Known to work
Added the 4 Ghost files as per instructions
Build ran with no erros
Nero burned the CD (Finalise, Disc at Once) with no errors and verified it OK
PC boots from CD - "Loading Ultimate Boot CD . . . . . . ." phase goes to the end
Then "Please Wait" . . . and 30 minutes later I am still waiting!!!!!

No errors, no diagnostics, no nothing. So near and yet so far from the holy grail.
Can anyone give me a clue as to how to progress.?
(Boot hangs on two different PCs - Toshiba Tera M5 and Satellite P804)

Try building without the Ghost files. Just build a plain vanilla v3.12 with no changes.

Silly me - I should have tried that.
Yes then it works fine.
Odd that the Ghost files should cause it to die at that point.

Now, the next question is, of course, how do I get Ghost to work?
I have given UBCD the following 4 files
ghost.exe 1916560
Ghostsrv.exe 657032
Ghostexp.exe 1615496
Ghost32.exe 5283464
from Symantec Norton Ghost v11

I notice a post about driver pack being flakey and I should use the driverpack.7z file.
Firstly this is all technobabble to me and, even if it wasn't, would it solve the problem? and where do I get driverpack.7z?

Thanks for any help

As the title of the plugin states its for Ghost v8.0 .. not 11

Note.... to avoid confusion on what you are refering too..

UBCD - is a DOS based boot CD with utils to repair / recover computers

UBCD4Win - is a Windows based boot CD to also repair / recover computers and also can include UBCD with it...

So when talking about UBCD4Win please don't call it UBCD since that is another project

I am clearly having a bad period. I dunno where I got the idea that 11 was supported. Just failed to RTFM. Apologies.
(And point taken about 4win)
I'll go back and try again - once I have unearthed Ghost 8 from the archives.

(Still think it odd that it should have hung the boot process when the app was not even referenced.)

Thanks

Now I remember. http://www.ubcd4win.com/forum/index.php?showto...25&hl=ghost says that "just to be clear, ghost.exe is a DOS product and will not work in PE. What you want is ghost32.exe, which comes in 2 flavors - Symantec Ghost Corporate Edition v8, or Symantec Ghost Corporate Edition v11. "

I (thought I) used Symantec Ghost Corporate Edition v11 (see earlier post for file sizes)
