My Computer recently stopped working. (There is no better way to describe it than that.) On techsupportguy.com, The guy pointed me to UBCD4Win to copy my hard drive before I restore my computer. So for that I have questions:

1. Will UBCD4Win work for the purpose that I need? (make a copy of my hard drive)
2. Can it also serve as a recovery method?
3. Can I build this CD from a computer that uses Windows Vista and use it on my laptop that uses Windows XP?

Please any help I can get is SO much appreciated!!!

You can build on a Vista system but the Windows source files you use must be XP SP1, XP SP2 or Windows 2003. You will also need to right click on the UBCD4WinBuilder.exe and select Run as administrator or disable the Vista UAC when building.

Some protection softwares do detect the password recovery and other utils as threats even though they are not... see the FAQ for more info on false positives.

Since the term recovery and copy files are almost the same... yes it can be used for both. It also can be used to repair a corrupted installation of Windows if the user performing the work knows what they are doing in that area.
