Followed directions and built the boot cd in XP home SP2 safe mode. But when I try to boot it, It starts loading and then a message starts floating around the screen that says "input data unsupported". Can someone tell me what is going on?

Do you use a TFT monitor and a DVI cable?

Graphic card BIOS use refresh rate not supported by TFT monitor.

Try a VGA cable. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA

Which Acer 19" do you use?
Do you use a crt monitor?
Do you use a TFT monitor?

Edit plugin\!Critical\UserSettings\User-Settings.inf

Try different resolutions

Example
CODE
; Screen Resoultion 1024x768 32bpp 60Hz
0x4,"ControlSet001\Services\VgaSave\Device0","DefaultSettings.VRefresh",0x03C
0x4,"ControlSet001\Services\VgaSave\Device0","DefaultSettings.BitsPerPel",0x020
0x4,"ControlSet001\Services\VgaSave\Device0","DefaultSettings.XResolution",0x400
0x4,"ControlSet001\Services\VgaSave\Device0","DefaultSettings.YResolution",0x300

All I know is it is a 19" flat screen monitor (Mod. #AL1917WA) on sale from TigerDirect. I am not sure how to change resolution in DOS mode. It runs on Windows PNP.

Launch notepad.
Open file (UBCD4Win)\plugin\!Critical\UserSettings\User-Settings.inf.
Edit file as suggested.

Does hardware support a DVI cable? Try a DVI cable.

The monitor is supposed to run @ 1440X900 - 60hz. Hardware does not support DVI.

I am reluctant to start messing with settings because I don't know what I am doing. If I mess up, then what?

UBCD4Win use windows default graphic card driver vga.sys.
This driver use VESA mode. Graphic card may support 1440X900 at VESA mode or not.
Most likely graphic card support 1024x768 at 60hz. And monitor should support this too.
Suggested solution may work or fail.

Well no risk no fun. You won't get worse results, but maybe better results.

Good luck.

Ok, I got brave and tried it. Now the splash screen loads from the disc, but then the floating message "info not supported" comes back.
