Any news on this?

A plugin is in the works however there are a few minor issues with the latest version that need to be addressed by Grisoft before we can produce a plugin that will work 100%.

I've managed to get a working AVG 8.0 Free plugin by "hacking" the files created by Malice on 911cd.net and the UBCD4Win Antivir plugin created by Rdsok. It works for me but if someone else can test and confirm all is ok.
Copy the three AVG files (.cmd, .inf and .xml) to your AVG8 plugin folder then follow the instructions below. Note that SourceDisksFiles in avg8free.inf will have to be edited if you're not running AVG on your PC. Create another plugin folder for the vc2005rt_sp1.inf file if you don't already have a Visual C++ 2005 plugin.
Original thread http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=21601.

QUOTE
This plugin requires the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 runtime either as a seperate plugin or the dll's included w/ manifest files in the AVG program directory. When installing AVG you should use the following command switches this will disable features that are unneeded in a PE environment.

c:\avg_free_stf_*.exe /REMOVE_FEATURE fea_AVG_SafeSearch /REMOVE_FEATURE fea_AVG_ResidentShield /REMOVE_FEATURE fea_AVG_HttpScanner /REMOVE_FEATURE fea_AVG_EmailPlugins /REMOVE_FEATURE fea_AVG_Office_2000_plugin

You'll need to archive the files in c:\Program Files\avg\avg8\ into a self extracting file called AVG8.EXE which needs to extract to b:\avg8 when used.

Unfortunately at this time it is not possible to update the virus signatures when run under BARTPE the virus signatures need to be updated before building your CD. The virus signatures can be found in c:\windows\system32\drivers\avg\.

Lastly copy the activation key used by AVG and put it in the file avgkey.txt in the plugin folder you'll need i for activation in BARTPE.

To run AVG under BARTPE install to b: drive then refresh NU2menu start the Kernel Service and Watchdog Service then the control center it should
complain about the activation enter the key from avgkey.txt it should come up now and function normally. So you don't have to enter the key each time make a copy of avg.snu after exiting AVG and put it in your AVG8.EXE self extracting file.
