Hey there just trying to create ISO. I am on windows xp sp2 rc2. I have win xp sp1 cd. Ive done everything just as it says but when i go to create the ISO i get the following error at the end of the process. "Error: ISO builder (mkisofs) returned error code 2. This happned on the first attempt to create this. One thing i noticed when unziping the ubcd files into my bart pe folder i am asked to replace a certain file. I do replace this file because i assume ubcd needs this one instead of whats there. Ok i hope some one can help me. I have tried del bart pe and the folder the iso is to be wrote to and retried with the same error.

Thanks in advance

Ok, first of all, I moved this to the appropriate forum section, as this is for the Ultimate Boot CD or AutoPatcher, not the Windows Ultimate Boot CD.

As for your problem, when you download the pebuilder3032 file, extract that to a folder, usually pebuilder3032, somewhere on your HD. Next, delete the plugin folder within that folder just created. Then, download the WinUBCD file and extract it to the pebuilder3032 folder overwriting everything.

Now to build the ISO, just run pebuilder.exe and I would make sure to leave the default output settings (meaning where the ISO files need to go and where the .ISO file needs to go) alone. If that doesn't work, just doing all that I've just said in your HD root folder (such as C:\). This means, extract the pebuilder to C:\pebuilder3032, and make the default output settings (if not already) to C:\pebldr and C:\temp. If that doesn't work, then reply back again with a little more details if possible.

Also, if you want the forum to email you upon a reply to your message/topic, log in and go to My Controls (link at the top). And then change the forum settings to make it email you as such (among other things you can do). Just writing it as a message wont do anything (at least I don't think it will). Thanks and I hope this helps. smile.gif

Hey thanks for the quick reply , ive done all exactly as you have said with the exception of installing the pebuilder into my programs dir
i will give this ok and brb.

Ok I did everything just as you said. I left all folders were the apps said for them to be. I created a folde named pebuilder3032 and unziped the zip there, i then del the pllugin folder, i then extracted the winuncd file to the pebuilder3032 , overwriting the file it asked to overwrite. I then ran through bart pe and left all folders as they were it goes through the entire extraction process but when it gets to the (mkisofs) process it seems to be having a problem the following is the text generated before the error , the error , and after the error.

Execute "C:\pebuilder3032\mkisofs.exe -iso-level 4 -volid "WindowsUBCD" -A PEBUILDER/MKISOFS -sysid "Win32" -b bootsect.bin -no-emul-boot -boot-load-size 4 -hide bootsect.bin -hide boot.catalog -o "c:\temp\winubcd11.iso" "c:\pebldr""
/cygdrive/c/pebuilder3032/mkisofs: No such file or directory. Unable to open disc image file
Error: ISO builder (mkisofs) returned error code 2
ISO image "c:\temp\winubcd11.iso" created.
Build process done...
There where 1 errors and 0 warnings
Use the [<<] and [>>] buttons to jump to error/warning.
Because of the errors the ISO image is not generated!

Correct me if im wrong but it seems to be looking in
c:\pebldr""
/cygdrive/c/pebuilder3032/mkisofs

for the mkisofs process even though the mkisofs file is in the main dir

Did you try putting the main pebuilder3032 folder on your root drive, like C:\pebuilder3032? If not, try that and get back to me. I know we've had this same problem before. I'll try to find the other solution, though I thought it was what I just explained earlier... smile.gif

Hey yes i put it in the root folder, but rereading your directions i notice i did not make the .iso folder go to c:/temp

I will try this and get back to you.

Also just wondering why dont yall just post the ISO and allow others to just dl it?
LittlBUGer
Also, if the C:\temp folder doesn't exist, create it, and then try it. This is a known bug with pebuilder for some reason, but we are trying to make a workaround soon. smile.gif

Also, if you are remaking it, make sure the C:\pebldr is empty before trying again. Just trying to be precausious. smile.gif

EDIT: Here's the same problem and solution: HERE

Here's information about why we can't put up an ISO to download: HERE
There will be a FAQ section soon with lots of this information already in it. Hopefully we can get people to read there first and save us time. Has it worked yet? smile.gif

Yes I finally updated the site last night and added that note for everyone to read. I have personally received several emails over the past week about that issue. Many others have posted here in the forum about it too. It's a really silly error, it sometimes happens and then sometimes doesn't. I'm sorry I didn't get around to it sooner, would have saved you some time. Thanks for posting and please keep checking on this project!! biggrin.gif

Luckily the solution to this error is now in the new FAQ in the FAQ section! Yea!!! biggrin.gif
