Full Version: AutoStreamer does not produce .iso files

I have tried using AutoStreamer to create a .iso file without success. The operation looks like it completes normally. No error messages are given, but when I look for the .iso...there isn't one.

The program successfully finds my WindowsXP Pro disc (retail version) in my drive, and it successfully finds my downloaded SP1a file. But no matter where I try to create the .iso, the .iso doesn't appear. I have even searched my entire system for "*.iso" and have found nothing.

Oddly, I noticed that the "extracting files" progress dialog says that files are being extracted to some directory in g:\. That is an ancillary hard drive I installed for backup purposes. My operating system is not on g:, nor is my SP1a download, and I've never specified g: as a target for the .iso file to be created. I've tried this a number of times, and it's leaving folders with names like "a2a089a8b3cf78e74ac4f" on my g: drive. Inside each of these folders is a log file, which reports:

Service Pack started with following command line: -s:"C:\$AutoStreamer$" -u

Please check that:
a) No network or copy errors occurred during the integration process
b) The format of the destination directory is correct.
The files to be integrated must reside in an i386 and/or ia64 or nec98 directory
(i.e. for an i386 share, if you typed "update /s:c:\cdshare", the files must be in the c:\cdshare\i386 directory).

That emotican is actually "b)".

Until Steel or Littlbuger read this all what I can suggest it have a look for the filename without the .iso extension just in case for some reason it's not given the correct extension on the end.

For example if you called it winxpsp1.iso search your system for winxpsp1.

Do you have any applications associated with ISO's?

Also, what version of AutoStreamer are you using and have you tried re-downloading it to make sure you didn't get a corrupted download? I don't know if Steel has the latest version on the site or not, 1.0.30, but I've never seen problems like that before, or really any problems at all. Can you please post the exact information you input into AutoStreamer during the whole process? Thanks. smile.gif

I downloaded a new version of AutoStreamer 1.0.30. I extracted it to a separate folder. Then, I ran AutoStreamer.exe from the extracted folder. When the program starts, I make sure the "I want to use my original Windows CD" radio button is selected. Then I click "Next". I then get an error message:

Run-time error '5':
Invalid procedure call or argument.

That did not happen previously. I deleted my current AutoStreamer files, and redownloaded it (1.0.30) again, for the third time. I extracted all the contents of the zip file into a folder, and did not click on AutoStreamer in the archive. I got the exact same Run-time error '5': message again!

Funny thing is, the program appeared to work flawlessly before my original post--it just wouldn't create ISO files, but there were no error messages and no hitches.

I will try to contact Raptor on this issue. I have not been able to find any answers anywhere, I've been searching the Neowin forum and this error hasn't been mentioned. There have been a few other errors in the past week mentioned, but there is no resolution posted for those either. All I can do it try and hope that Raptor knows what causes this one.

Okay, check this out. I downloaded both the previous versions of AutoStreamer, 1.0.28 and 1.0.29. For each, I extracted the archive to a separate folder, and ran the .exe. Both of those versions produced the same Run-time error '5': error.

Then, I removed my Windows XP (retail) disc from the disc drive. I ran 1.0.30, and did NOT encounter the error. I put the disc in my second optical drive, ran the program, and got the error again.

So, making sure the disc was not in the drive, I ran 1.0.30 again. I made sure the "I want to use my original Windows CD" radio button is selected, and click Next. I then put my Windows XP disc in the drive. I click the little magnifying glass icon next to the "Windows CD drive" field, and get the Run-time error.

I repeat the process, but this time I clicked on the magnifying glass icon next to the "Service pack file" field, and located my SP1a file without a problem. Then I inserted my Windows CD, and went to manually type in the drive letter where my Windows CD was located, e:\. But as soon as I typed the \ mark, I got the same Run-time error.

Hope this information helps.

I thought I posted a fix for this or at least a link to a fix for this a long while ago. I'll do some searching and let you know what I find. smile.gif
