I have many time before successfully created my own WUBCD just following the instructions in How to buid. I have just added some new plugins and tried to rebuild the ISO from scratch. But now there were some error.
.....
Cleanup temporarily files
Error: DeleteFile() "E:\Soft\Windows Ultimate Boot CD\pebuilder3032\petmphive" failed.
Error: DeleteFile() "E:\Soft\Windows Ultimate Boot CD\pebuilder3032\petmphive.log" failed.
Build process done...
There where 2 errors and 0 warnings
Use the [<<] and [>>] buttons to jump to error/warning.
Because of the errors the ISO image is not generated!

Anyone has any ideas?? I need help urgently.

Try here.

That, and the fact that you have spaces in the folder names may be a problem, as it has been a problem in the past. Also try looking at THIS GUIDE. smile.gif

Thanks for the replies. I have followed the links and tried again the whole porcess. But still the errors remain. Here are they, as I copied from pebuiler.log.

....
Error: addFromInf failed: RegSetValueEx "AppInit_DLLs" returned error 2: The system cannot find the file specified. Line=1222 Key="Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping\win.ini\Windows" Value="AppInit_DLLs"
...
Error: closeHive failed: RegUnLoadKey (key="PEBuilder.exe-E:/WinPE/UBCD/petmphive") returned error 0: Access is denied.
....
Error: SetupDecompressOrCopyFile "D:\i386\EFSADU.DLL" to "E:\WinPE\WinUBCD\i386\system32\EFSADU.DLL" returned error 2: The system cannot find the file specified.
....
Cleanup temporarily files
Error: DeleteFile() "E:\WinPE\UBCD\petmphive" failed.
Error: DeleteFile() "E:\WinPE\UBCD\petmphive.log" failed.
Build process done...
There where 3 errors and 0 warnings

Could anyone help me again.

BTW, with these results I created the ISO file and burn to CD. Then when boot with the CD there are many error: network could not be setup, there are no icons as usual at the quicklaunch toolbar, some applications could not run, no applications can be run from Run... Actually, I had successully created a WinUBCD using the 2.1 version, and everything was fine. But I have just download 2.3 version and now everything got mess. I don't know why as I did follow the same steps as before. For your information, I am novice at computer, maybe that's why I got difficulty in understanding your instructions. Please excuse me.

Hi

Did you simply rename all the folders or did you start from scratch again and extract all the contents into the new folders?

The last time I had error messages about access denied to certain files I had to delete all the files/folders in the directory as pebuilder.exe and start again ie extract bartpe and the contents of ubcd4win.

If you've not done this please try it.

Also just double check EFSADU.DLL is present in the I386 folder, however it will be named as EFSADU.DL_

Don't worry about being a novice all of us start from there smile.gif

I have started from scratch several times and have all the contents in one folder as the intructions of the last link.

I do not understand this hint. What should I check? if the file is there? I checked and there is no such file in my Windows XP CD. What is this file actually? But last time with version 2.1 i did not have this error??

and is it all these orrors that cause my CD not booting properly?? When boot there are many error messeges: something like configuration canot be imported (it ask me to find a clean.reg file??), then the network could not be set up....

BTW, I used an OEM XP Home edition supplied with a Dell notebook. Does it matter? as last time I used the same CD with 2.1 and no problems??

Also, I am wondering if the problems are caused by many registrymonitoring applications I have: ProcessGuard 3.05, RegRun 4.0 Gold, Winpatrol 8.10, RegProt???

Thanks again!
SteelTrepid
Damnit. Isn't this the RunScanner problem we had a while ago? I think I am losing my mind because it seems to me that errors we have already found a fix for keep coming up again.....and my memory won't work well enough to remember the solution. I hope someone else's memory will work, because I need to go to bed....my brain is fried from work.

Also you have said you have retried from scratch several times. When you did this, did you still have the plugins that you were trying to add to your copy? If so, we cannot really troubleshoot errors with "foreign" plugins, since we have no knowledge of them.

Yes. What i did was extracting Bart PE and WinUBCD to the folder (as instructed on the home page), then I added some other plugins that I found on the forum or other forums. They are: AVP5 , and Giant Antispyware. Did they cause any problems then? But last time I also added something like :ERD Commander 2003, Avast Antivirus and they were fine.

Maybe I'd better come back to 2.1. But Where could I download the 2.1 version again? I have delete with 2.3 in my PC and could not find it in the homepage.

Thanks

I'm not sure if going back to a previous version will help you much. Have you tried removing your added plugins and rebuilding? Here is a link to the previous version of 2.2 link.

Hi binhyen

EFSADU.DLL

When you have built the ubcd4win EFSADU.DLL will be on the ubcd4win CD, however if your looking for this file from within your XP installation I386 folder the file is compressed and is named EFSADU.DL_ not EFSADU.DLL as on the end boot CD.

So if you search for EFSADU.DLL within the I386 folder you won't find it, you have to look for EFSADU.DL_ the windows setup rountine copies uncompresses the file and renames it to EFSADU.DLL.

Yes. But sorry to let you know that it failed again, all the same errors when booting from the CD. Here are they:
"No setting for Goeshell found. Goeshell will not import the default settings from goeshell\docs\ clean Install.reg"
"There was an error importing the default settings. Please locate and merge "clean install.reg"
"Unable to register networking components"

regarding EFSADU.DL_, actually I found the answer to quastion 9 in Frequently ask question, that it is not needed in XP Home edition, right? and when deleted the added pugins and just usign the original ones I did not have that errors but still the other 2 error deleting the petmphive files. What is going wrong with me?? I am losing my interest now after too many failed attempts. I will try the 2.2 to see if it is better. But I still prefer 2.1 if any?
Please help me!

I just want to add something. Could it be: whenever exacting WinUBCD into the folder already have the files of Bert PE, it aks to replace the original pebuilder.inf with the one from WinUBCD and I did allow that. But in the section How to build no instruction like this is mentioned??? Any hints??
LittlBUGer
It might very well be because you are using a Dell XP CD, which usually have extra garbage that cause conflicts with BartPE and AutoStreamer (sometimes). So though it worked before, it may not work now. Have you tried extracting the CD to your HD and then pointing pebuilder to the i386 folder in there? I know there is another solution for this, but I can't recall either... :-\
SteelTrepid
Yes you will need to overwrite those files, they are what set everything up. I guess the wording in the instructions are not clear enough on the site. It might not be obvious to all people.
binhyen
I have tried all the instructions you adviced me to but I still failed to boot properly. The same error happened. I definitely want to come back to 2.1 version (tried 2.2 but no better). Could anyone give me the link?? Thanks
binhyen
Sorry for my repeating this topic, but it seems no one interests in this topic anymore? and I definitely need help!

Anyone still got the link to WinUBCD 2.1? Please help me!!
SteelTrepid
We are very interested in helping you, however pretty much all of our advice has failed. I do not want to give up on your issue, but I feel there has to be some other details or something else we need to know.
It is very frustrating to me that you are having these issues and I do not want to lose any of the users of my project.

Let's start this from scratch again. Here are a couple of questions I need answers to:
1.what version of BPE are you using?
2.can you give me some specs of your computer?

Now, delete your old folders for BPE. Rerun the BPE install (please only use version3.0.32) file, have it install or extract to c:\pebuilder3032---delete the "plugin" folder----now extract UBCD4Win 2.31 in c:\pebuilder3032, when it asks if you would like to replace existing files select "yes". DO NOT add any other plugins to the folder. Now try to run it again. Please take note of any errors produced when it is building the ISO or if ISO creation fails. When the ISO is created see if the CD works.

One side note though, one thing that (I am probably wrong about) but I have a gut feeling---when you go to build the CD and select next on the "Output" page, you get a message about the PE Builder folder already existing....do you select "yes" to delete it? For some reason I think you are clicking on "no", this could cause the problems.

Please answer my 3 questions and go through the process again....fresh. Note any details, etc. that may pop up. It may sound redunant to try again as I know you have many times, but I hope....you follow ALL of the instructions from the SITE and you should be successful.
LittlBUGer
If all else fails after you try Steel's advice above, I should have that version still, so I can send it to you if needed. smile.gif

Thanks for your reply.

Now I have followed all your instructions. Coppied Windows XP SP1 into hard drive, have built the folder structure as instructed in FAQ (but I have them on E drive not C:, as I got small C:), started from scratch, deleted the output PE Builder folder, have no added plugins... and still got the following error:

Error: addFromInf failed: RegSetValueEx "AppInit_DLLs" returned error 2: The system cannot find the file specified. Line=1222 Key="Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping\win.ini\Windows" Value="AppInit_DLLs"

Error: closeHive failed: RegUnLoadKey (key="PEBuilder.exe-E:/WinUBCD/BartPE/petmphive") returned error 0: Access is denied.

Error: DeleteFile() "E:\WinUBCD\BartPE\petmphive" failed.
Error: DeleteFile() "E:\WinUBCD\BartPE\petmphive.log" failed.
Build process done...

Because of the errors the ISO image is not generated!

I could not created the ISO, except when running Bart Pe again and choose creating ISO only. then the CD boots but not properly, the same errors as I posted last time.

My PC is Dell Latitude Celeron 1.7, 20GB hardisk with floppy drive, and supplied with a recovery Windows XP home edition SP1 included (last time with 2.1 it was successful, never had any errors). Now as posted last time, I have some new security applications installed, which i suspect causing the error?? (RegRun IV Gold, RegProt, Winpatrol, Kaspersky Personal 5.0, Giant Antispyware, ProcessGuard 3.0 (full version). Could they cause these errors??

LittlBUGer, could you send me the 2.1 version anyway?? Many thanks.

I found out something which is strange. I could not even delete 2 files: petmphive and petmphive.LOG from Explorer. It said some other person or program is using it. I could delete them only after reboot. What could cause that error?
LittlBUGer
I would suggest closing out all other applications when you do this, except for your main firewall and antivirus software. Everything else should be completely shut down and no strange processes should be running. Then try to make it and see what happens. Have you also tried making it in Safe Mode? If these two things fail, once I get home, I'll send you version 2.1. Thanks. smile.gif
stidyup
The last time I had that error the only way I could get it to build again was to delete the entire contents of the pebuilder folder and extract everything from scratch. After doing that it would build the CD.
LittlBUGer
Also, you said you slipstreamed SP2 (or SP1) with your Dell CD and then used the new CD to build the UBCD4Win? If you have not tried that, I'd suggest you try that as I've heard that sometimes fixes problems. smile.gif

Thank you LittlBUGer. I did it your way, in Safe mode, from scratch, and it works perfect now. So, I guess it was the security softwares on my PC that caused these errors! I only wished if you remember to tell me that earlier. You know what I mean. For your information, I have an OEM Windows CD with SP1 already in there and I used pebilder 3.0.32. I will try adding some other plugins to see if it works still.

Thank you so much SteelTrepid, stidyup and LittlBUGer for all your prompt replies and precious advice. I really love your project. Though I am not an IT person I find your CD really helpful when I have troubles with my PC, especially it allows me to access and run applications from NTFS drives which otherwise might be difficult.

@ LittlBUGer

huh.gifIs there a [big] difference in Dell XP CD than the rest of XP CD?
and why can't use the usually XP SP2 CD?

"which usually have extra garbage that cause conflicts" - so whats this extra "garbage"" files?

I'm curious to know just in case I'll bump with a Dell unit someday. rolleyes.gif

Thank a lot in advance. wink.gif
SteelTrepid
I'm glad that you finally got it all worked out. I didn't notice you were running so much stuff in the background, all that security software running jumbles up BPE processes. It is not allowed to access certain files, or do everything the way it is supposed to because that security software has some system files locked down, etc. We are going to have to start asking users what software they have running when they try to build if they have errors.

As for Dell, and any other "recovery", "repair", or whatever they want to call it....are garbage in my opinion. Dell and other companies ship out highly modified CD's. Sometimes they do not contain all the files and most of the time they have additional drivers included for the hardware they usually put in their systems. I honestly cannot think of a good way to word all of this. Basically they are not "true" XP install discs. They are not laid out properly and usually do not work when using BPE. These huge companies save lots of money by building their CD's this way, MS gives them a big discount because they are not shipping an XP CD that can install XP on any machine. That is the #2 reason why I will never buy a system from any company. The #1 reason is because it is so much fun to build them yourself. biggrin.gifcool.gifAnyways, I hope this answers your question. If you have more, please post them.
Arctic Wolf
Some OEM CD's also have a nasty habit of checking the motherboard to make sure you're installing the CD on the 'correct' computer, which can create conflicts when you're just trying to use the CD.
SteelTrepid
Yup, thats one good example. Sure it could be a nice feature, no worries of having to activate your copy of XP. Just install and go, however I don't know if it always works. I still prefer to do it myself. Sure it's annoying and could be a waste of time, I just read email when I wait on hold when I have to call them for a new code. They are usually pretty friendly too. I've always worried that someday they will say "NO, you cannot have a new code...you have used this key 20+ times!!" If that day would ever come, I think I would have to switch to linux!! ohmy.gifmad.giftongue.gifThen I could create the "ultimate linux distro CD!" Anyways, love my XP too much to go to that.
