Hello,
Is there a way to disable startup items like the msconfig utility?

thanks,

Do you mean on the host machine or when the CD is booted up?

The best way is to do it from the registry, as msconfig is a terrible way. Go to your Start button and to Run.... Then type regedit and press OK. Browse the registry for this area:

CODE

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

There are also programs out there that do an easier job of this. Try searching Google or something for them. smile.gif

I think this should do it, Fresh UI, if you mean on the PC, if you want to do it via the CD then you'll need to load the registry hives and edit them the way littlbuger shows.

This software is 100% free, no ads, no banner, no spyware.

Requires a free serial number to activate.

My EzPcFix program might be what you're looking for, it's included in ubcd4win. It only removes items instead of disabling them but it covers many more areas than msconfig does.

goto http://www.ezpcfix.net and read about the details.
