Every time I have attempted to create a PE disc using my Windows XP source and a slipstreamed SP2, it always fails. I always end up with files 'not being found'. Sometimes the files have even been their and BartPE still fails to find them. They usually end up being font files, but errors none the less and I can not complete the ISO creation step. I am not using a modified XP disc, it is the full disc and slipstreamed with *restricted project name, please email Ben for support* without taking anything out. I have also tried the traditional way through the 'run' command with no luck.

Is there something I am doing wrong here? I really want to get it to work with SP2, I don't know why, probably just because it errors and I want to fix it. So has anyone had this problem and remedied it? I would love to hear from anyone who has done this succesfully.

Well, as you may have noticed, that program you used for slipstreaming is not used nor recommended by us. We use AutoStreamer here, which was almost specifically created for us. I would suggest using that to make a SP2 slipstreamed XP CD. I'd also suggest making sure that your XP CD is first copied to your HD, along with your SP2 file, and have AutoStreamer point to those locations and build the slipstreamed ISO.

Is your XP disc from Dell or Gateway or anything? Have you had problems with it in the past? Have you tried building the CD in Safe Mode? Sometimes Windows will lock files BartPE needs to copy (this VERY RARELY happens) and thus Safe Mode is the only answer. Other than that, please post in great detail how you built the CD. Thanks. smile.gif

The CD is a retail colume license CD and has no modifications at all. I will try using Autostreamer and see if it helps me accomplish the task. Thanks for your help.

Well using AutoStreamer worked perfect and solved the problem. Thank you very much for the help.

Great. Yes AutoStreamer was started specifically for us by a friend of mine over at Neowin a while back. We do recommend it's use since it is usually pretty flawless. The new tool included in PE Builder has not been tested by us. Reporting your experience now keeps me away from even testing Bart's version. I think this helps reinforce our stance to please use AutoStreamer!! biggrin.gif
