Win 2k server dynamic disks as raid not found by ubcd4win however the system bios does see these drives as does the standard win 2k server setup.

one drive is a maxtor, the other is a western digital, both IDE, non SATA

Not sure why they are not found...

Also -- not sure if this could be part of the issue, but when using the ide drive info (idedrive 2.0) it says "Failed to load VXD/SYS driver!"

Can you please post exactly how you built the CD and what are your system/server specs? Any more detailed information will be helpful for us to solve the problem. Thanks. smile.gif

Built the cd as per the combo cd for UBCD + UBCD4Win combo cd.

Server specs:
Asus mainboard w/ intel p4 & intel chipset
Win 2k server
256 ram

Maxtor + Western Digital IDE drives are dynamic disks with disk mirroring (windows controlled, no additional controllers)

Have you tried the combo CD on another system, say like a normal workstation, to make sure that it works OK? The combo CD can be trickier to make so you always should test it before real use. smile.gif

I know what the dynamic disk problem is and I have a fix for it. Unfortunately both are currently sitting on my computer at work. I'll try to dig it out tomorrow and let you know.

edit...found the info on the thread Here.

Here's a plugin nitro001 came up with:

CODE
; PE Builder v3 plug-in INF file
; Created by Bart Lagerweij

[Version]
Signature= "$Windows NT$"

[PEBuilder]
name="Windows XP SP2 RAID 1 & 5 Support"
Enable=1

[SetupReg.AddReg]
;0x1, "ControlSet001\Control\ProductOptions", "ProductType", "WinNT"
0x1, "ControlSet001\Control\ProductOptions", "ProductType", "ServerNT"

[Default.AddReg]
0x0, "Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Setup\Welcome"
0x0, "Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\srvWiz"
0x1, "Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\srvWiz", "", "0"
0x4, "Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Setup\Welcome", "srvwiz", 0x0

Note that when doing this any software that looks at the ProductType key (ie. Partition Magic) won't work anymore because it thinks it's a server OS. Another fun thing is that you can now create software RAID 5 volumes. smile.gif

Cheers
