I burned the results of the slipstreaming process and using the burned CD sucessfully created the WinUBCD iso. Unfortunately, I got the same resuls as using the file from the hard drive. The WinUBCD boots sucessfuly to the point where 'cmd.exe /k start.net' executes the gives the not regocnized error and stays at the command window.
'startnet.cmd/ is not recognized as an internal or external command program or batch file.

What system did you do all of this on (meaning building both CDs, not running them)? There have been a lot of problems with Windows 2000 recently and building either CD. Can you elaborate on what you did for everything? Thanks.

The system is running WinXP Pro. I downloaded the files as described in the How to Build section, extracted PE Builder to D:\PE Builder, deleted PE Builder Plugins, extracted WinUBCD to D:\PE Builder, slipstreamed SP1a to Win XP Pro, used D:\WinXP as the source, generated WinUBCD.iso with no errors, burned iso with Nero 6. Burned slipstreamed WinXP Pro to cd, generated and burne a second iso.

The system runs WinXP Pro. I followed the directions on the how to build page.

What plugins did you delete? And why?

What he meant stidyup is that he deleted the default (original) BartPE plugins folder (at least that's what I got out of that). I'm not sure why it's not working. I'm amazed you got the ISO to build with a space in the directory name (PE Builder). I've always made mine in the default directories, pebuilder3032, pebldr, and C:\temp\. How did you burn with Nero? Is there anything else that you did? Thanks.

I really hate these types of problems, because they are hard to replicate. It gets very frustrating for the person with the problem and the people trying to help. I know we will eventually fix this problem and find the cause of it. I just ask everyone to please give as much detail as possible so we can figure it out. I'm sure this may happen to another person and it's very helpful to know what is causing it for future occurances. Thank you for posting and please elaborate a little more so we can help you fix this.

I redid the process using d:\pebldr as the directory instead of d:\PE Builder. The process worked with no flaws. The only noticeable diference what that when using D:\pebldr, I was asked if I wnted to replace the pebldr.ini file. I clicked okay and all went well.
Buring the slipsteamed WinXP files to a CD and using the burned CD as the WinXP source works also,
thanx

Well fortunatley it was another easy fix. I've found most of these issues that have been coming up are just silly little problems. You can't run it from your desktop, can't have a space in the folder name, and the \temp folder must exist. It's nice that we haven't had any major issues!

Yea, it looks like everything is based off of the old DOS standards, like the file names and folder names, etc. Gotta be careful where you put stuff and what you name them. Stick to the 8.3 filename standard with no spaces in anything.

i too was having the same problem with the 'startnet.cmd', but i have fixed it by changing the file names to fit the 8.3 naming convention. I noticed that when trying to build the ISO with a file name 9.3 the iso image was only 180mb-ish, but changing it to 8.3 resulted in an iso of 378mb.
cheers,
