When I try to build the ISO file pebuilder hangs on this statement and causes a windows error and terminates pebuilder.
Directory "C:\pebuilder313\BartPE\i386\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.Windows.CPlusPlusRuntime_6595b64144ccf1df_7.0.0.0_x-ww_2726e76a" created
Directory "C:\pebuilder313\BartPE\i386\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.Windows.CPlusPlusRuntime_6595b64144ccf1df_7.0.0.0_x-ww_2726e76a" already exists
It seems as though it is trying to create the same file twice, and Windows doesn't like it.
Any advice?
Thanks,
Gary

Try re-downloading pebuilder and the UBCD4Win (and the drivers add-on if you use it) to make sure there isn't anything corrupted there. Then clean everything out and re-extract everything and try it from scratch. If it still gives the error, please post exactly what you are doing and also try making it in Safe Mode. Thanks.

Yeah, that is a pretty strange error there. I've never been notified of a problem that causes Windows to close PE Builder.
Because of the nature of the error I have a few ideas in my head. I wonder what you have running in the background while trying to build the ISO. I'm thinking you have some type of background program that may be causing the issue. Please let us know what programs are running.

just in case someone could have a doubt if the language of the winXp cd could prevent some processes to complete, I just created a UBCD without a single problem and I have WinXP Pro SP2 in spanish. As a matter of fact, it took me longer to download the files than to have the UBCD burned. I have already tested it and works great wth another system (PC Win2k pro, working) and worked as expected.
Hope it helps.

heres my problem:
I followed the instructions word for word. I used my winxp with sp2 already on it. Created the image fine, and was using the cdxp burner mentioned on the build page. Burned the image fine, but something must be missing cause it will not boot from this CD. Are there some bootfiles that need to be included inside the ISO, or files to be accomadated with the ISO file on the CD? I am new to all this, sorry to sound like a PC Geek..lol
I also have Nero if needed.
I did try making disk bootable, but every boot image still wont let it boot.

Check your BIOS settings. You must enable boot to CD, not HD or floppy. If multiple CD/DVD, then use the first device.

Thats not the problem, its the CD. MY CD driver is the first boot device. I have a new Lite On driver that works perfectly
I did all this on a cdrw, should I try just a CDR?
Heres what I get on start up
FD 1.44 type 06
Then I get loading DR.DOS
EMM..somethimg.and a version 3.72 i think
Then the horizontal cursor just blink at the bottom

That's all I got!
I'm sure LittlBUGer will have a few disparaging words about the LiteOn CD ROM.
Until then...
Welcome to the project!

Hello mikeva
What version Nero do you have?
mikeva
May 6 2005, 11:11 PM
6.3.1.11 bundled
I looked around in Nero, I can choose several CD options, even tho only have 1 drive. There are options: use image recorder DVD, or CDRW, and 2 for the Lite On DVD, or cdrw.
So from what I read, after creating the ISO, burn it to CD and it should work...oh well, will keep trying

It almost sounds like you are burned the .iso file to a Data CD, which will NOT work. What you need to do in Nero Burning ROM is go to Recorder -> Burn Image. Make sure to Finalize CD and do Disc-At-Once or it wont work right. Otherwise, I'm not sure what's going on. It's sound like you are trying to make it think there's a boot sector it needs to load which is NOT the case (for any .iso file for that matter). You need to burn it as I explained above, NO Data CDs. Other than that, dump the Lite-On and get a good working drive...
Also, if you are using Nero Express (unfortunately), then choose the Disc Image option.

Yeah, there is just one little step that is missing....one detail that is being missed.
What does the file and folder structure look like on those CD's you burnt? How many files and folders are there?

Good luck with that. I've received many emails from users having problems with the CD not working. When we get through all the steps....it's because they used the burning capability that is now in PE Builder. However, it may work for some people. I've only received bad emails about it, none telling me it was successful.
If it would help, I am available sometimes to chat with. I have Yahoo and MSN accounts. I also have no problems giving support on the phone, as long as you live in the US. I've made the mistake of calling Canada a few times in the last 4 months....unfortunatley for me I always realize it after the bill comes in the mail. $50 total in calls to Canada!! Wife almost killed me the first time, luckily she didn't notice this last time last month....yet.

The cdrecorder worked like a charm. I was able to boot to the Ultimate CD

I was doing like Little said I was, guess I was just creating a data CD, cause all that was on the CD was the ISO image. Still would like to figure out Nero, or The CD burner he suggested on the main page..cdburnerxp pro3. Anyway, least it now works. My goal is to generate a little spending cash in the future repairing, and upgrading PC's. This Bootdisk will be a great tool to get started with. I have programs and other tools at my finger tips already, but this certainly will accompany them nicely. Thanks so mush for your time and patients everyone. If I figure out the other 2 burners, will post for newbies like myself

Well the instructions for CD Burner XP Pro isn't the greatest. I'll add some screen shots and more detailed instructions.
I'm glad you were successful finally and I'm sorry you created all those coasters.
Good luck with your computer repairs and I wish you the best of luck in getting some extra spending cash. If you build a big business, please don't forget about us!!

I use a chat program called "Teamspeak" If was built for internet online racing community to chat with each other while on the track. We play Nascar. Great program, no ads, popups or anything like that. Low bandwith. Sounds like your sitting beside each other. This works flawlessly. They have a client end which everyone connects with, and there is the server side you setup for everyone to connect to. Basically all the client needs is the IP address, and a user name and password, but can log in as a guest, but highly recomment a passworded server if it running from a personal server. Anyone interested in testing this for the future, I can get you setup to connect to one in a matter of 5 minutes, after a small download of the client...just food for thought

Much better than those long distance phone calls...just need sound card and a working microphone.
