Hi somebody,

I want to boot from Floppy and mount USB 2 Key on old computer, then load programs from an USB 2 Key. How can I do it ?

Thanks.

eeik,

you should try to find a bootloader that can :
- boot from a floopy
- launch a boot from another media (I was thinking to a CD rather than a memory stick as older computer might not have USB 2.0)

Smart Boot Manager might be the tool you need :

Hi danielha,

Thanks for your reply. I have an Old Desktop Computer who works with Usb 2.0 by a PCI Card Usb 2.0 and a Portable by a BusCard Usb 2.0.

Thanks !!!

Ack! Flood control... bah.

So.. Did it work? I'm interested in this. I have a 1GB USB Titanium Cruzer Flash Drive I'd love to get this on. Slap a boot disk in there, pop in my USB stick and go, go, go!

If you got it working, can you post your config.sys and your autoexec.bat?

Thanks.

I'd be interested too as I also have a Cruzer Titanium, though only the 512MB model. smile.gif

The only way I find is to boot with a "WinPE" Cd, then click on "Nu2Menu.exe" or use a script to chain to "Nu2Menu". It open a "Start Icon" with a Menu. You can launch only "Ready To Use" Programs which don't use "RamDisk" and the Registy. I have tested it with "UBCD4Win 2.5" and many programs work fine. But it's attractive to have a tiny "WinPE" Boot CD. A size lower than 100 Mo is good. I have 2 quick Usb Key of 1 Go :

1/ An Intuix S500 which read at 24 Mo/s and write at 12 Mo/s

2/ A Sony Microvault Excellence which read at 28 Mo/s and write at 18 Mo/s

For launching programs, it's up to 10 times quickly than a Cd-Rom or Dvd+R. For booting from Usb 2.0 Key, it's 4 times quickly than Cd-Rom or Dvd+R.

If somebody have an other idea for booting or optimize Boot !!!!!

Thanks !!!
