Alot of my current clients that I support have Dell pcs that they brought new. I was wondering though, since I only have regular Windows XP SP2 and not the Dell OEM version of Windows XP, can my cd work on these Dell machines? I thought I read someplace online here that if you are using the cd on a dell system it will NOT work and you need to make a specific cd ONLY for Dell's? is this the case?
Just want to make sure I know how many different flavors of the cd I will need to create and maintain..
Thanks

Please read everything very carefully from now on before making a post thinking that something is wrong when it's not. The information you were referring to was illustrating that you shouldn't build the CD using a Dell CD. If you have a normal XP CD, the built UBCD4Win CD should work on basically ANY system, no matter what OS or what manufacturer. I hope that helps.

okay sorry, the wording threw me off... I will remember to NOT use a Dell OEM cd... I just wanted to make sure that by using my normal windows xp cd I could infact run the boot cd on a dell computer system as that is about 75% of the computers I have to fix for people..
Thanks

Well, actually you can now use a Dell CD as long as you enable a special plugin on the UBCD4Win download. It should be disabled by default. It has worked for most people when they tried it. Then again, you may not get a perfect CD built compared to using a regular XP CD.
