Hey!!!! I hope everyone is having a wonderful day! I was making the UBCD4Win disk and when i copied my windows disk to my hard drive and several other programs like ghost my computer rebooted. (I thought it odd but whatever) when it came back up it went to the login screen. (i had only one account so that it would just go to my desktop) Anyway i pressed ctrl alt del twice to get to the other login and typed in my name. I have no password so i just hit ok. It told me that i had to enter my account for network imaging and such. I tried the password and login that i created durring settup but, unfortunately to no avail. (being a computer nerd and stuff) I knew this must be the work of Ghost. So i booted up in safe mode and created another account which-go figure- showed up on the login. i removed ghost and attempted to restore my computer to an "earlier time." that didn't work either.

. . . (more attempts and such)

Anyway, now i have no account but i can see it through the other account so i copied everything just in case.

A co-worker ("boss" technically, computer tech) said that it could have been when i copied the windows disk to my hard drive and said that it might have replaced some .cab files. I don't know if it is that but i am a bit sceptic.

So if anyone can bring back my account i would sure appreciate it. . . especially so that i can finish making this disk!!!!! biggrin.gif

it's cool

thanks tonz

Not quite sure what's going on but if you installed XP orginially just type administrator for the user name and hit enter, you might be able to log in providing no one has set up a admin password.

Alternatively on the CD use Sala Password Renew and this should allow you to reset the passwords for all accounts.

tried that and it didn't work either. it said that it didn't support something or other, and i don't have an administrator password cuz i used it in safe mode so. . . and i can't use the cd yet because i didn't get as far as to making it yet.

You should be able to make the cd in safe mode.

Sounds there may be a fix to overcome this issue but my recomendation is this. Is it cost effective to replace a $2,000 motor in a $3,000 car? Cut your losses and time spent and rebuild the machine. If you have a network or a USB drive caddy for an external HD then back your data off and rebuild it from scratch. I would also go so far as to clave the drive using Autoclave for at least one pass to ensure the disk is clean before a reinstall. I have seen a few systems where people loaded restore software and it did not get deleted during a rebuild due to the MS format utility just wipes a portion of the FAT and does not actually wipe the disk of anything. Thusly the restore proggy remaind on the drive and corrupted subsequent rebuilds.

That is my 2 cents on this... Reading it again, I apologize if I sound harsh... It is hard to write down feelings into instructions. anyways..... I apologize if sounded to harsh.
