This is a great product!! Is it ok (legal) to make copies to give to my friends?

Thanks.

I can't speak for UBCD4win, I will leave that answer to Steel but I don't see why not since it is a free project download.

As far as building it complete and copying it. No you cannot do this. Your friends need to possess a legal copy (available license) of the OS used to produce the Final Product.

Check out the FAQ:
► Why isn't UBCD4Win available completed in ISO format?

Steel,
As a suggestion you may want to consider adding something about this to these FAQ sections.
► What are the requirments for building UBCD4Win?
► Do I need to purchase something or donate money in order to download and use this CD?

Can you give your friends a copy of ubcd4win? If they don't have a copy of XP/2003 the simply answer is no. To have a working copy of ubcd4win you need a valid XP/2003 Server licence.

If they do have a valid license then I think your in a bit of a grey area as to whether you can build them a copy with your XP CD, but you should be OK.

You can use your ubcd4win on any PC providing your OS on your PC isn't loaded. If it is your in breach of your licence agreement.

I'm sure the above is correct if not Steel or one of the others will correct me, but this is my understanding of how it stands at the minute.

I do not mind a person passing a copy of UBCD4Win to a friend. This is a freeware project started to help people, if you love the project and it has helped you then please share it. Just make sure they know the address for the site so they can get support or more information if they need it. Please do not alter it and try to make it look like something you made up.

A completed, built, or compiled copy of the project? Legally MS will want me to say NO. If the friend owns a copy of XP it is a bit of a "grey" area like Stidy said. I am honestly not sure how MS stands on that.
