I am running Windows XP SP2 and need assistance in getting BART pE to see my Maxtor SATA drive. I have the Bart CD and when it ask to press F6 for additional drivers it takes to where I put the floppy in with the current drivers for my SATA and then loads into XP and no drive. The only drive it shows is my IDE secondary slave drive. I have the Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro motherboard that uses the nVIDIA nForce 2 Chipset.

What version of ubcd4win are you using and are you using the latest (v1.5) driver addon pack? If not then you should download and install it. Also, you won't have to hit F6 to load the driver if it's included in the cd.

I have that same board in the computer that I'm on right now but I don't have a sata drive that I can plug in and test with.

BTW. Does your onboard nic get detected and work with the driver included in the driver pack?

I have v2.5 for ubcd4win and 1.5 for drivers. the onboard nic doesn't get detected. The problem that started this whole mess, I installed a firmware uodate for TSSTcorp CD-RW drive from the Manuf. and now the system won't boot in XP, not even Safe mode or last known config., any ideas?

Will it boot without the CD-RW connected if this is causing the problem?

I assume your getting past the bios post screen OK?

The Windows XP screen comes up very briefly and then reboots. I have disconnected the CD-RW and the problem still exists. I created a restore point prior to the firmware update and figured if the update fails, boot in Safe mode and restore to previous condition.

Try booting your XP cd to the recovery console and run "chkdsk c: /p /r"

If it tells you that the c: drive doesn't exist or doesn't have a valid filesystem then you could try a repair install (which will most likely fail if you can't access your partition from the console)

If the repair install doesn't detect your windows installation then booting Knoppix would be my next step to see if it can mount your partition (read only) so you can plug in another drive and copy your data. There's a good chance that Knoppix will be able to detect and mount your partition when windows can't (that's the way it goes for me anyway...).

HERE'S a driver that should work for your network card (it would be helpfull to know if it does so we can maybe get it added to the cd). Just extract it to your drivers\nic directory prior to building the cd.

Good luck,

Tom

I finally got BARTPE CD to work and the network card and was able to move my files to another drive. Great product and thanks for all the input. biggrin.gif

Did you use the driver that pcuser posted then? It seems very strange as I'm almost positive that driver is in the drivers pack. Will have to check that out... Thanks. smile.gif
LittlBUGer
Well, I'm going to double check both the Silicon Image storage drivers and Realtek Network drivers to see what I can come up with. I'm not sure what else it could be... I'll let you know. smile.gif

I confirmed that my files were out of date (the realtek drivers), though the ones pcuser posted were even more out of date. I'll update them when I can. Thanks. smile.gif
