Did you use a Dell XP CD to build the UBCD4Win? Can you give the stats for your system and tell us exactly what you did? Any more information would be great. Thanks. smile.gif

I have a xp home sp1 cd, and slipstreamed sp2 to it using autostreamer. I fallowed the instructions step by step for building UBCD4Win, using Bart's PE 3.1.3, UBCD4win program and drivers.

I'm building it on a system I built myself a few years back. Running Win XP Home SP2 with all updates no viruses or spyware. Intel Pen. 4 2.0GHz with 512 Meg Ram, 8.5 Gig HDD.

Just wondering if it was something easy to fix or should just start from beg. and try again.

I'd try rebuilding it again from scratch, as something may have gone wrong. If this fails post back and we'll see if we can come up with any more suggestions.

8.5GB is that correct???? That's a very small drive and this could be helping to cause the problem. With the price of hdd's at minute I'd upgrade to at least a 80gb. I think the slipstreaming process requires about 1.5gb of free space so this could be where your problem lies. Increasing the hdd size will also give you a performance boost for very little outlay, the 2ghz cpu will be suffering a performance hit as it will be waiting for drive.

How much free space do you have?

I think you may just have to go through the "build" process again. PE Builder has the tendency to occasionally create a bad build. I would just build again and try the new ISO that is generated. If that doesn't fix it, then you should start over from scratch.

Thanks for the help... I must be having a problem with the slipstreaming, maybe not enough space (doesn’t give me any errors though) I have 1.1 gig available. Anyways, I ended up just using my XP with SP1 and it works fine. Are there any benefits to using SP2 on the CD, if so I'll keep playing around, if not I'll forget it?

I keep thinking of buying a new HD but then I think "I like to eat, maybe I'll buy food instead", maybe once I get my comp repair business up and going I'll have a little extra cash and be able to reinvest it.
I have a 15 gig drive sitting in a computer that a friend thought got fried by lightning, ended up the modem got fried but the rest of the computer is fine, just have to check if he wants it back before I start dissecting it for parts.

Got off subject there for a while, sorry. Well, I got lots of playing around to do to look at all the tools on this CD.

Thanks

Rob
