I have an IBM Thinkpad that runs WinXP with service pack 2. But the machine had WinXP prebuilt. Can I build a UBCD rescue disc? Thanks.

Generating recovery CD's depends on your model: example

Recovery CD service parts
Notes:

    * A set of recovery CDs can be created in the IBM Rescue and Recovery predesktop area. A CD-RW drive or Multi-Burner drive and writable media are required.
    * All Field Replacement Unit (FRU) part numbers listed in this table are Customer Replaceable Units (CRU).

It would be good to have a set of recovery CD's handy. I have restored an IBM ThinkCentre to factory fresh using the predesktop area... no cd's required. I believe F11 on boot should get you there.

....

Once you have successfully burned the recovery CD's, you can try to build the project. All you can do is try, but major manufacturer recovery cd's generally don't work very well.

Also check to see if you have an I386 folder on your main C: drive. That may be all that you need. smile.gif

As littlbuger says the I386 folder may be on the C drive with all the files you need. Just point PEbuilder to C:\ for the source installation media.
