Full Version: 2 Minor "Bugs" in Version 2.55

In the k-meleon_nu2menu.xml file, there are two references to k-meleon.cmd - but these should actually be k-meleon.exe. Otherwise, the start menu item for it gets greyed out.

Also, just as an FYI, the 800x600 8-bit, 16-bit, and 24-bit entries in the screen res list are missing the "X" between the 800 and 600.

Not sure if either of these issues were in the 2.5 build.

Thank you very much for the information on these items. We will have look them over. 2.55 didn't get much beta testing didn't get much attention to because of everyone being busy already testing the new version and the config tool. Plus other reasons.

Everyone keep up the finds as this stuff helps us in looking at the next build also! Hopefully when the next release is out it is error free.

Wikipedia about the Borg.

This is a collective effort. The more feedback we have concerning errors, experiences and suggestions, the better the project will be for everyone.

I think this explains the erratic resolution problem experienced during testing and may explain probs with k-meleon.

K-meleon may be lite, but so is OffByOne which really sucks. Opera gets my vote as the default browser for the project. FireFox is my favorite browser, but it seems to have issues with keeping the plugin current with new version releases and extensions.

????

Could you explain further?

I think he's talking about the "extension" issue in one of my early plugins for FF 1.05 and the fact that FF was just updated to 1.07.

The resolution issue is a minor "cosmetic" issue, it shouldn't effect functionality.

Has anyone run cmos yet? That was my biggest problem this weekend when testing. I asked for everyone to check it out but no one ever reported anything back to me. So I did what I could with it.

K-meleon, I'm not sure about this. This release (2.55) is a mix between 2.5 and what we were working on for 2.6. To get a feature to work in 2.6 I switched the plugin around a little and for 2.55 I attempted to switch it back. I noticed the issue this weekend and thought I removed it from the project and/or thought I fixed it.

I'm just glad that there are only (hopefully) minor stupid errors on my part.

Refer to DW's lamentation of his own Firefox plugin in his Opera plugin update ( post #6)

To be honest, the more I use Firefox, the more I hate it. It's features are fairly barren unless you add extensions, which in itself is easy enough (if you can find what you need for the version you have), but it's maintaining the plugins that is somewhat difficult - it's a real PITA to upgrade and keep your settings for PE. Firefox should definitely have some sort of upgrade routine in their installer to minimize the trauma caused by trying to keep my settings from version to version in PE. Stepping down off my soapbox now...

Check out DW's FF post #18 for more update fun.

This is why I like Opera over Firefox for use in the project.

I was thinking about adding Opera to the latest version since it is now free and we have a good plugin from Digi to use. However I was reluctant because I'm not sure if I will be able to remove K-Meleon from the next release. I also didn't want people saying I'm bloating the project with 3 browsers. I've got to check into more things, but I need a small broswer that will not or does not have to be SFX'd. OB1 is small but doesn't provide the functions I need, and at the moment K-M seemed the only option. I will do testing with Opera, hopefully we will be able to use that for this upcoming feature for the project.
