Full Version: Plugin Building question

Ok, I have a question and decided I can't wait any longer to ask.

I have a plugin GAIM that requires GTK+.

Here is what I want to do to really get the plugins looking good. Currently GTK+ I can make a standalone plugin but GAIM adds files to the GTK+ Plugin. I would like to have those files exist in the GAIM plugin instead of the gtk+ plugin but they need to be copied to the GTK+ location during the PEbuild. I know you can define a file to be copied to like the system32 but can you define an actual location? IE programs/gtk+

Is there a way to define this in the inf of the plugin?

Oh yeah, you should be able to do this. All you really have to do is combine the INF files. Send me a copy of each and I'll show you what you need to do.

I want to keep them seperate plugins though.

A different example.

Software Package A, B and C.
A needs B to run and places some files in B. C needs B to run and places some files in B.

I want to keep B as B only so that if a user wants C he can grab B and it won't have any of A files in it. But C will do the job of adding the files needed to B.

In otherwords I want these to be seperate plugins. Currenlty I have it in my notes if I build A then copy the files needed for A to B when adding the plugin. I do this manually instead of having PEbuilder doing it.

yes this can be done. If you need help then you can mail me your work and I'll fix it up for you. Just tell me which parts you want in your gtk libs after build and I'll do up your plugins so that they are separate.

Or if you want to try it yourself simply were you define your winntfolders assign a folder in your gaim plugin that corresponds to the folder were they belong in the gtk plugin. Then assign the gaim files in the gaim plugin that belong to gtk to the folders you assigned in your gaim plugin. during build time the files will then be placed into the gtk plugins folder structure. If these things need to goto system32 or something like that then just assign them to go there.

It is all fairly easy though. It's maybe just harder for me to explain in a clear way.

I pmed you the fix. I hope it all works well for you but it should as long as gtk was working already.

I'll check it out. Thanks for the help.
