I have downloaded and installed the USB 2.0 drivers plugin but I am not sure where to go from here. Is there any documentation that I can refer to?

The project already has a USB plugin and most likely it's the one you just downloaded. So you do not have to add it to your build.

Make sure your USB HDD is connected before you boot the project. It should be visible after everything is loaded.

I do not see the USB Hard drive, it is plugged in before boot but it still does not reconize the drive. I can see the Floppy, HDD and both CD roms but no USB HDD.

Is that coming from an unmodified UBCD4Win CD? Or is that after you "installed" your usb2 plugin?? If you have both enabled they could be conflicting.

I am using the original plugin that came with UBCD4.

Try building without the USB plugin. WinXP should detect your external hdd anyway without the need for the USB plugin.

try to use another file manager besides xplorer2. Use a43 or one of the others and see if it is seen.

As it turns out the USB HD was BAD. Thanks for all the help. What a great tool!

What type of partition and format did you use on the USB drive... it would have needed to be partitioned and formated first for it to be listed with a drive letter.

I think you are correct it was not formatted, but I have not checked that yet!

That would certainly explain why you have no drive letter since there isn't a partition there yet.... that is a requirement. If you partition and format the drive I bet you will have no more issues then.

laugh.gifwink.gifYeah, formatting would be important!! I hope this is the issue. You can always use the MMC controls to format that partition. Now that I think about that more, I wonder why no one suggested trying to view the drive with that??

I have to admit that until it was mentioned that the drive shows up in the device manager but not with a drive letter... I was also thinking that it was a more complex problem. Its hard to not think that the basics were already covered even when we know better than to do that.
