Is there any help writing the xml file for the menu shortcuts. Its very time
consuming. I use a basic example and adapt accordingly its just a pain. I was hoping there was a short cut program tha would help with it.

Thanks
Flynn
Hey Carfan, welcome to the forums. I did a little searching and found a few things on the 911cd forums that you might find interesting:

Sherpya WinPe Stuffhas a XML menu converstion tool
Here is a nice little tool to alphabatise the menu items, which is something I enjoy cause I'm picky like that blush.gif
You can find an Nu2parser tool over here that makes life a little easier. If this is what your looking for anyway.
And of course there is the Reatogo tools, which if your willing to do some extra reading and a few extra steps, can be a really nice tool.

I hope this information is helpful. If your still having trouble finding a script, I would search over the 911cd forums or check the bootable cd secotions of the forum over at MSFN.

Peace biggrin.gif

I already use Reatogo for when I want a XPE build. I use ubcd4win when I dont want a XPE build. Making the start menu for ubcd4win is where I am having the
trouble.

Thanks

Ok
if you want to edit the menu the first file you should look at is:
pebuilder313\plugin\nu2menu\nu2menu.xml

This will help you create your MENU's under Start Button.
Then you can use the XML in each Plugin to define what to name it and where it should be located.

As you can see here is the Menu Setup for UBCD4win - Programs
@nu2menu.xml
CODE
<MENU ID="Programs">
 <MITEM TYPE="POPUP" MENUID="Accessories">Accessories</MITEM>
 <MITEM TYPE="POPUP" MENUID="AntiVirus Tools">AntiVirus Tools</MITEM>
 <MITEM TYPE="POPUP" MENUID="Applications">Applications</MITEM>
 <MITEM TYPE="POPUP" MENUID="CD Burning Tools">CD Burning Tools</MITEM>
 <MITEM TYPE="POPUP" MENUID="Disk Tools">Disk Tools</MITEM>
 <MITEM TYPE="POPUP" MENUID="File Management">File Management</MITEM>
 <MITEM TYPE="POPUP" MENUID="Malware Tools">Malware Tools</MITEM>
 <MITEM TYPE="POPUP" MENUID="Network Tools">Network Tools</MITEM>
 <MITEM TYPE="POPUP" MENUID="Registry Tools">Registry Tools</MITEM>
 <MITEM TYPE="POPUP" MENUID="Password Tools">Password Tools</MITEM>
 <MITEM TYPE="POPUP" MENUID="System Information">System Information</MITEM>
 <MITEM TYPE="POPUP" MENUID="Shell Features">Shell Features</MITEM>
 <MITEM TYPE="POPUP" MENUID="New Tools">New Tools</MITEM>
</MENU>

Then if you open up a XML file in a plugin you will see how it is defined. Lets look at Avpersonal
@avp_nu2menu.xml
CODE
<NU2MENU>
<MENU ID="AntiVirus Tools">
 <MITEM TYPE="ITEM" DISABLED="@Not(@FileExists(@GetProgramDrive()\Programs\avpersonal\avpersonal.cmd))" CMD="RUN" FUNC="@GetProgramDrive()\Programs\avpersonal\avpersonal.cmd">AV Personal</MITEM>
 <MITEM TYPE="ITEM" DISABLED="@Not(@FileExists(@GetProgramDrive()\Programs\avpersonal\avwin.exe))" CMD="RUN" FUNC="@GetProgramDrive()notepad \Programs\avpersonal\AntiVirhelp.txt">UBCD4Win AVPersonal Help File</MITEM>
</MENU>
</NU2MENU>

As far as a shortcut Program I'm not aware of anything.

Some plugin builders allow you to define a menu to place it in automatically doing the work for you during creation.

I think Deko's plugin builder can build the xml files for you , but its probbly quicker to just
create them by hand.

If you want a way to test the menu before building the iso, look at this small script...
http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?sho...indpost&p=85816

You can use internet explorer to make sure the xml file is valid.
just open it with IE & if you have a error, IE will not be able to display the file.

Paragliders sortmenu is another good way to validate the menu.
He also has a program to rebuild the main nu2menu.xml file from your plugins without running pebuilder.

Using the rebuild menu program & the script I posted, saves many hours of frustration.

I know this is not what you wanted to hear, but there is no fully automated way to do this yet.
As most people are using explorer shells, I don't know if anyone would spend the time required to code this.
