Maybe a repeated question, but I couldn't find it.
Can UBCD be installed on a hard drive?

I have an old laptop that my kids use to surf the internet, currently running ubunto. UBCD4 runs much faster and they just want to type and play on a few web pages.

Thanks,
Rick

Yup, repeated question. I think this should be something that a "video" should be made for, next candidate I would think.

I've personally never done it, however there is a "peinst" plugin included with the project that should allow you to do it. Hopefully another user that has done this will respond with some "tips" for you!

Hi zipper

peinst run from the hard disk under real windows XP can install Bart PE onto the hard disk C: alongside Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Which is usefull for testing & diagnosing problems with the setup of Bart PE. (Make sure you have a backup of anything important on the hard disk before doing this)

Run from CD ROM under Bart PE does same thing to C: (first partition)
Many people have tried and failed to install and boot from second partition or disk.
(Unless you have a boot manager which can change which is the visible active partion)
One common problem when run from CD ROM is that when the registry files \I386\system32\config\* and \I386\system32\setupreg.hiv are xcopied to hard disk by peinst they are corrupted. Causing problems on starting from Hard disk .

Make a spare copy of these files and copy to correct location after installation
If using XP SP2 to build Bart PE then what was C: becomes X: under Bart PE (same as for CD ROM)
