I've just made my first UBCD4Win CD on a standalone system with 384 mb ram,
running Win XP Home.
When I try to boot up with the disk, I get the error message:
"Not enough memory for ndis. Setup failed. Please reboot your computer"
I have no idea what this means, or how to fix it.
Can someone please help?

We need information and details about your build. Did you include any driver packs in your build?? What SP did you use?? Etc......
I know I was having this issue personally....but it was with a "new" build I've been working on for the next release of UBCD4Win.
Oh yeah, one thing that just popped into my head. You probably need to disable a plugin and then build again......instructions are here:

ndisis a novel netware related app. Check the plugins before you build he cd again and make sure to shut off the plugin for novel support.
Then rebuild the iso and try again. Hopefully that should do it for you.

I downloaded the files from UBCD4Win site only yesterday, so I guess they are the latest versions (v 2.55). I renamed the original Plugin to Plugin1. Then I used BOTH driver packs - maybe I shouldn't have done this? Maybe just one or the other? I used SP2.
My computer is IBM desktop 400 mhz. with 384 mb. I'm not on a network.
I'm trying to get all the advice from you guys here before I rebuild.
Oh, just one other thing.
Since failing to boot the CD, I have not been able to get on the net - always says the line is busy. And one time it said the server's (my ISP) modem is having problems.
But I got on the net with this computer straightaway with no problems.

If you try to install BOTH driver packs then you're almost guaranteed a non-bootable cd. If you need to include additional drivers then I suggest using 1.6 as it's the easiest and most stable.

Sorry, I misled you - there's nothing to do with the failure to connect to my ISP.
There REALLY was a problem with their hardware.
I didn't have a clue as to what to do with the drivers - so I used both.
I'm going to try again now with the advice I've received so far.
Will let you know what happens.

I thought I should keep everything simple, so I downloaded the Config tool.
This is what I've done so far:
I couldn't find anything that refers to "Novelle" in the plugins folder. So couldn't do anything there. (Maybe it has another name?)
I deleted the original plugin folder from BartsPE, only used the one in UBCD4Win.
I did not use either one of the 2 driver packs.
When offerred to update AV/Antispyware/Utilities, I declined.
But I accepted the offer to install Qemo.
Everything ran well while still in Windows, so I burned the ISO.
But when I restarted with the CD, Setup failed and I got the same message "Insufficient memory for NDIS etc...)
And worse...... I have lost my floppy drive. How can I get it back??
I suppose QEMO is some kind of virtual drive and has taken over the A:\ drive?
Rebooting did not help.
I'm in WAY over my head here.
HELP!!!

QEMU doesn't map to a drive letter, it's an entire virtual computer that runs as a program from windows.
I don't know how much help it'll be but could you please post your UBCD4WinBuild.log file? It can be found at the root of your build directory.

Did you follow any of the advice from my post to you?? I think you need to start again and just keep it simple. Extract a clean copy of BPE, delete the plugin folder, extract UBCD4Win into your "pebuilder313" folder. Then run PE Builder, click the Plugin button, and disable the "MMC Eventlog and Eventlog Viewer" plugin. Build and then burn the ISO. If you are still greeted with that error message when you try to boot that new CD, then try to boot it again. This time when you boot and see the generic "Starting UBCD4Windows" screen try pressing F7 several times while it's on that screen.
Please let us know what works for you, if it does.

Yah!!! IT WORKED!!!
I disabled Eventlog and MMC Eventlog Viewer and the CD booted up.
What a BEAUTIFUL program!!
Thank you. You guys are the GREATEST!!!
(Oh, What about the missing floppy. Is that related?)

missing floppy? Are you talking about your message before when trying to boot? If so, don't worry about it.
Anyways no big deal for the help, if I hadn't made a mistake with that plugin then you wouldn't have had any problems. I hope we can get the next version released soon to fix this mistake.

No, I don't have a A: drive in Windows.
I have 3 partitions so I have C: E: F:, (no D: for some reason).
The CD drive is G:
I've gone into BIOS and found that the floppy is installed.
I can boot to DOS with a Win98 bootdisk, but in Windows XP I can't access any floppies.

This is a strange error. The only advise I could give you is to reboot windows XP
& press F8(at boot time) & choose "last known good configuration".
This should bring the system back to a usable state.

I can emulate this but its nothing to do with this project...
TweakUI from Microsoft give you the option to enable/disable drive letters.. when I disable drive A: using TweakUI, the drive doesn't show up in My Computer... it even takes a reboot to bring it back after enabling it again.
Here is the manual method to perform the same function http://www.winguides.com/forums/showflat.p...psed&sb=5&part=

Before trying the previous... you may want to ensure that your Device Manager is seeing the floppy drive...
Right click on My Computer and select Properties... go to the Hardware tab and click Device Manager, click the "+" sign next to "Floppy Disk drives" to see it listed.

I had a computer come into the shop a while back where the floppy (A:) drive was missing from My Computer and it had a yellow exclamation mark next to it in device manager. THIS procedure fixed it.
