I am trying to create an Ultimate Boot Disc for my system using my Dell OEM XPSP2 disc. When I go through all the steps and run the build from BartsPE I get the following 6 errors:

Error: loadKey() failed:
Error: closeHive() failed: RegUnLoadKey (key="PEBuilder.exe-C:/BARTSPE/BARTPE/I386/SYSTEM32/CONFIG/petmphive") returned error
Error: DeleteFile() "C:\BARTSPE\BARTPE\I386\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\petmphive" failed
Error: DeleteFile() "C:\BARTSPE\BARTPE\I386\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\petmphive.log" failed
Error: DeleteFile() "C:\BARTSPE\BARTPE\I386\SYSTEM32\setuphiv" failed
Error: DeleteFile() "C:\BARTSPE\BARTPE\I386\SYSTEM32\setuphiv.log" failed
Error: cannot find file: C:\bartspe\drivers\Net\Nvidia\nForce4\AMD\bdco1ins.dll
Error: cannot find file: C:\bartspe\drivers\Net\Nvidia\nForce4\Intel\bdco1ins.dll

Builder has stopped because there are 6 build errors

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
acmoseley

What version of the project are you using?? Only version 2.6 works with the new version of PE Builder. The errors you are reporting ONLY come up when using a version of UBCD4Win prior to 2.6.

Also please "search" the forum more. Try searching for "bdco1ins.dll" and you will find there is an error in the current version of the drivers download. There is a simple fix that is posted here in the forum. We will hopefully have a new version released soon that addresses these issues.

After getting these errors and attempting to follow the instructions in the link provided I was unable to get it to work. I think the primary reason is that, though I was getting these errors indicating some kind of a permissions problem inside the loaded hive, the specific permissions problem was different than the one identified by d4vr0s over on 911cd.net. He identified (based off of the specific hives he was seeing from users) that the problem was specific to Windows XP install CDs that came from Dell and that the problem related to the "controlset001\services\iastor\" key in the hive.

I was getting the same errors as listed above but my CDs were not from Dell and I didn't have the iastor key with the bad permissions.

Anyhow, in the end to resolve these errors, I just used a different source CD for windows. This fixed the problem which confirmed that the issue was with the permissions inside the hive file on my Windows CD.

I'll continue through the process that I'm following here, hopefully with success : http://www.vandomburg.net/installing-windows-xp-from-usb/

I also found this http://www.sentire.co.uk/software/software...-a-usb-pen.html but haven't tried it yet, so I can't say if it works.

This post is over 3 years old.
Are you using a Dell disc?? There is another fix for that:
